I have stayed here for one day and I can say that the staff are extremely professional.Rooms are clean and great food.Staff are very kind.I would certainly recommend this stay for stunning view of city and the Kanchezhenga mountains.

We had a 3-day stay at Istana Resort and Spa. The property has the potential of a 4-star hotel, with a large and spacious environment, and both the rooms and bathrooms are generously sized. However, the overall condition appears somewhat worn, with areas requiring better maintenance, including visible fungus patches on the room walls.Our arrival experience was not very pleasant. We reached around 6:45 pm during cold and rainy weather, but the welcome at the front desk felt rather rigid than warm. Upon entering the room, it was not properly prepared despite our pre-booking—there were no pillow covers or towels, and we were informed that the laundry had not been returned. The room was also very cold, with no heater provided initially. After dinner, we had to request essential items such as towels, pillowcases, and a heater. A portable warmer was provided; however, one of the towels was damp, discoloured, and had an unpleasant smell.The next day, we returned to the hotel at around 6.45 pm to find that the room had not been made up. When we enquired, we were told that housekeeping is only done upon request, which was not communicated clearly, and there was no visible notice indicating this. After speaking to the duty manager, the room was cleaned promptly, and our concerns were addressed professionally—this was much appreciated.In terms of facilities, only basic toiletries were available, with no items such as facial tissues or a hair dryer. The hot water system was also inconvenient, as only a limited amount could be used at one time, requiring a 15–20-minute wait before the next cycle, likely due to a small water heater system.Breakfast was enjoyable, with good taste despite a limited variety. The restaurant menu is purely vegetarian. One downside is the early closing time, with last orders at 9:45 pm and no room service after 10 pm. On the positive side, the kitchen staff were helpful, and we appreciated the complimentary evening tea with snacks, as well as the good quality chai.The hotel is located in a quiet area, far from busy town or mall areas. While this offers a peaceful environment and beautiful scenery from the room, however, it can be less convenient, especially in cold and misty conditions, where walking out is not feasible.Overall, the pricing is reasonable, and with better maintenance and improvements in service and facilities, this hotel has strong potential to provide a much better experience. It would also be helpful if the photos on booking platforms such as Agoda more accurately reflect the current condition for future guests.
