Le Royal Meridien Chennai

Just wanted to share my experience in hosting an event in Le Royal Meridien. Booked a Banquet Hall for 200 Pax. The Hall was good and the Food Quality was good. However, it was a bad experience with the Event Organizer/ Sales Person who handled the Banquet Booking. Before booking, she promised a few items but after making the entire payment, even what was agreed in the Menu was denied. The starter serving strategy was pathetic. She said - Starters will be served as Pass-around for 90 minutes. This was conveyed just the previous day before the event and NOT before making the payment. While I requested starters in the buffet counter, she was adamant that starters will only be a pass-around. Hardly 50 members out of 200 would have received starters- 4 starters - 2 Veg & 2 Non-Veg.- for hardly 45-60 minutes. This is an Ugly Strategy for cost cutting. I would NOT recommend this Le Royal Meridian for Banquet Booking.

Very disappointing stay. The hotel is clearly showing its age, and the rooms are in poor condition for the price charged. We had to change rooms three times due to various issues before finally getting a usable room.The bathrooms had visible mold, which is completely unacceptable and raises concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. The bed was uncomfortable and worn out, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.Overall, the property needs significant renovation and better upkeep. I expected much higher standards, especially from a hotel of this category. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here based on my experience.

I had a very pleasant stay.The lobby was spacious and elegant, and the beautiful chandelier and staircase design made a strong impression. The courtyard and pool view also gave the hotel a relaxing, resort-like atmosphere.I also enjoyed the chai during tea time, which was a nice touch. I especially liked the breakfast coffee, which had a rich, roasted aroma.Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are well maintained, and the overall stay felt comfortable and worth the price.I would recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travelers.

I stayed at the hotel for one night, but honestly the room didn’t match the advertisement. There was a strong musty smell, and I noticed visible growing mold on the silicone seal around the bathroom’s glass sliding door.Although the breakfast had a good variety of local dishes, I started feeling unwell early that afternoon. I had stomach pain and diarrhea for the next two days.The moldy smell was so strong that it stayed on my pajamas, and I eventually threw them away because the odor wouldn’t go away.Also, during breakfast, the hotel staff asked to take a photo with me. I didn’t refuse at the time, but I didn’t agree to have my photo used for advertising. I hope the hotel will not use my image for promotional purposes without my permission.Overall, I believe the hotel has a lot of room for improvement, especially in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, and guest comfort.

Le Royal M??ridien Chennai is located in the heart of Chennai. I visited and stayed at the property from 09/02/2026 to 12/02/2026 in connection with an LIC MDRT meeting.The location of the hotel is good and convenient. The food quality was also good overall. However, the service had noticeable delays in serving food, which needs improvement.The room was average, but the cleanliness of the washroom was below expectations. Covered parking is available, but large vehicles cannot be parked comfortably due to low roof height.The staff service was satisfactory but not exceptional. Overall, the property lacks proper discipline and operational standards expected from a 5-star hotel.Based on my experience, I would rate this property 3 stars as it does not fully meet 5-star criteria.’ Sabareesh SR, Local Guide
