Lemon Tree Hotel Shimona Chennai

I was very disappointed with my visit to Lemon Tree Shimona on 16/7/26 around 11 am. I wanted to book a double room after leaving a nearby 5-star hotel where I had a great stay for 2 days. An employee showed me a decent sample room, but the front desk kept saying they were overbooked. I checked their website and saw a deluxe room available for ₹18,139 for two nights. The front desk first told me to book online but then sent me to the manager, promising a "better deal." I showed the manager the online availability, but he told me not to book through the website and to book directly with him. He agreed to give me the sample room and went away to take a call. While he was gone, the front desk quoted me ₹7,500 per night plus tax. When the manager came back, he suddenly raised the price to ₹11,000 plus tax. He was very rude, saying since it was the "last room," it had to be expensive and that they had just stopped online sales. This higher price was almost the same as the 5-star hotel I left, but for much lower quality. Making a customer wait, telling them not to book online, then raising the price and shutting down online availability felt like a bait-and-switch and was very dishonest. This was very unprofessional and harms your hotel's reputation. I hope you address this with your staff.

I enjoyed a great stay at Lemon Tree Shimona for nearly 5 days. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and well kept. The atmosphere is also pleasant. The best part is its close proximity to the airport and Chennai Trade Centre, where most business exhibitions happen, making it very convenient for travelers flying to Chennai as it is near both locations. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Even the chef is cooperative and skilled, preparing delicious food. The buffet servings are quite good. The portion sizes in the à la carte menu could be better. Overall, it's a fantastic place to stay if you're visiting Chennai.

Relaxed atmosphere. A bit pricey. The food was tasty, though there is room for improvement. A major advantage was that most of the liquors listed on the menu were truly available. Outstanding service from Mr. Sreekumar, who is differently abled, but looked after us throughout our stay. Grateful for the great experience, we will return for another visit!

The rooms were tidy, cozy, and ideal for a restful family getaway. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, ensuring a calm and smooth visit. The food was particularly noteworthy. What impressed us most was the kind and polite staff. Their sincere smiles and readiness to assist made our stay unforgettable. We departed with joyful memories and are eager to return. Strongly recommended.
