## Review: Laxmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB), Bapu Bazar ’Major Hygiene Issues, Arrogant Staff, and Overpriced FoodLaxmi Misthan Bhandar (LMB) in Bapu Bazar is often cited as a famous landmark for sweets in Jaipur, but a recent visit proved that its reputation is entirely unearned. The experience was deeply disappointing due to a shocking lack of basic hygiene, terrible customer service, and exorbitant pricing.### Hospitality and Service: "A Disgrace to Jaipur's Culture"Jaipur is world-famous for its warm culture, incredible hospitality, and the spirit of *"Atithi Devo Bhava"* (the guest is god)’but **this shop is a complete exception to that rule**. The hospitality here is completely missing. Everyone in this shop, from the counter staff to the management, is incredibly **arrogant and dismissive**. They won't give you straightforward answers or provide simple details about the products. They treat customers with an attitude that suggests they don't care about your experience at all, completely tarnishing the city's welcoming reputation.### Food and Severe Hygiene Concerns: "Flies Relishing the Feast"While the food itself was just okay, the display and handling standards are highly concerning. The place is totally unhygienic, with flies buzzing all over the establishment. Most alarmingly, premium traditional sweets like **Ghewar and Phirni were kept completely out in the open, with flies actively relishing the feast**. This is the exact same food being boxed up and sold to customers. It is a major health hazard, and it's baffling how a popular eatery can get away with such a complete disregard for food safety.### Pathetic Food Handling: "Zero Hygiene Standards"To make matters worse, the employee behavior is absolutely **pathetic**. **None of the employees wear gloves**, and their personal hygiene habits while on duty are shocking. I saw multiple staff members **scratching, itching, and combing their hair with their hands, touching all kinds of surfaces, and even eating paan masala**. Immediately after doing this, they proceeded to **handle the sweets and other food items with their bare hands**. Seeing this level of cross-contamination right in front of customers is completely unacceptable.### Pricing: "Super Expensive and Overpriced"The pricing here is outrageous. Most of the items are **totally overpriced**, and the quality of the food and service doesn't justify the steep bill at all. You are paying premium prices for standard food served in a dirty environment by a rude staff.### Final VerdictIt is genuinely shocking why anyone still calls this place famous; based on the unhygienic maintenance and stomach-churning food handling alone, it feels like it should be shut down by municipal health inspectors. Do not waste your time or money here’Jaipur has far better, cleaner, and genuinely hospitable sweet shops that actually represent the city's true spirit.**Our Rating: ’ (1 out of 5 stars)**

Visited this old-school sweet and snacks shop recently and really liked the nostalgic vibe it carries. The place has a very traditional feel and gives you a glimpse of how these classic local shops used to be.The snacks and sweets were decent and fresh, and the drinks were good as well. Nothing overly fancy, but simple and satisfying. The overall experience feels more about the charm and authenticity of the place rather than modern ambience.A nice spot to visit if you enjoy old-town vibes, traditional snack shops, and a bit of nostalgia with your evening snacks.

Visited on 03/05/2026, around 8 AM, while returning from Jaipur to Lucknow. Since we had fond memories of LMB’s famous Pyaz Kachori from 3’4 years ago, we decided to stop by for breakfast and relive that taste.Experience & Observations’ Early Morning PreparednessWe ordered Pyaz Kachori, Samosa, Sandwich, and Lassi. Only after placing the order did we learn that the Pyaz Kachori wasn’t ready yet and would take more time. This was disappointing, especially because that was the main reason we visited. Perhaps due to the early hour, the kitchen wasn’t fully prepared for kachori items.’ Food Quality’ Samosa ’ Not as flavourful as expected.’ Sandwich ’ Average in taste.’ Lassi ’ The highlight of the visit. Thick, refreshing, and truly enjoyable.’ Timing MattersBased on this experience, it seems that visiting after 10’11 AM might offer a better and more complete menu experience, especially for signature items like Pyaz Kachori.’ Overall ImpressionLMB remains a legendary name in Jaipur, and while our early’morning visit didn’t match past memories, we appreciate the legacy and hope to return at a better time of the day for a fuller experience.Thank you to the LMB team for hosting us.

Helpful Sweet Shop Experience

8.0

My review if for the sweet shop and not the restaurant. The choices are overwhelming, so many to select but you definitely buy some trial sizes. They have vacuumed, tins, and souvenirs with long shelf life. But those within the refrigerated windows, it may take just 3-5 days. If you dont know which one to take home, you can ask the ladies and they will help you order.

Must-Try Pyaaz Kachori

10

LMB as they fondly called it is one of the iconic sweet and namkeen shop in the city. They have a proper restaurant adjacent to cater different menu apart form the regular sweets. We visited specially for the kachoris and tried dal kachori and pyaaz kachori. The dal kachori was strictly average but the pyaaz kachori lived upto the hype thats been told or circulated. They also have huge variety of snacks and beverages options as well. Overall top rated from side for definitely must try Pyaaz kachori.
