Samudratheeram Beach Resort

Location is okay, service is prompt and good but the rooms we were given looked very cheap. Plus the smell, they are still using old school phenyl for cleaning and it's so strong we couldn't sleep. The corridors are so noisy because ac outlets for every room are placed in the corridor. Their roof top dining is a tin shed with limited options in buffet, taste is okay, can be improved. Access to the hotel isn't good either. They need to revamp inside out or just close the business.

We had been allocated this resort from a fraud agent Pleasure India Holidays, mentioned as 4-star Resort in Kovalam.Issue: This property is objectively not a 4-star facility, not even 3-star. It lacked basic resort amenities, and the standard of the room was akin to a budget hostel or distinctively low-tier accommodation ("Dharamshala" standard). This is a clear case of mis-selling, where I was charged for luxury but provided with budget accommodation. It was feeling cheated and made miserable my holidays with family. Never recommend this travel agent Pleasure India Holidays for Kerala Holidays and this resort to anyone. Will also complaint to Kerala Tourism board to stop this scam.

’ WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE ’ COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE STAFFThis was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid this hotel at all costs.’? Extremely rude and irresponsible staffThe staff’s behaviour was shocking. No courtesy, no professionalism, and absolutely no concern for guests’ comfort. Complaints were either ignored or taken very casually, as if guests’ inconvenience does not matter at all.’? Continuous power cuts ’ 6 times in one stayThe electricity in my room went off **six times**, causing major discomfort. There was no proper explanation, no apology, and no permanent solution provided. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel charging guests for comfort.’? AC not working the entire nightThe air conditioner did not work the whole night , making it impossible to sleep. Despite informing the staff, nothing was fixed. A sleepless night in a hotel is the bare minimum failure.’? Terrible laundry / washing service mismanagementWe clearly informed them about clothes for washing, yet the staff **completely mismanaged it**. No coordination, no accountability, and no proper response when questioned.’? Zero guest care & management failureThis hotel lacks basic hospitality standards. From maintenance to staff training, everything seems poorly managed. It feels like once payment is done, guests are left to suffer on their own.’ This place does NOT deserve your time or money.’ Do not trust the photos or promises.’ Strongly suggesting NOT to ever visit this hotel.There are many better hotels available with respectful staff and basic facilities that actually work.This hotel needs serious management intervention and accountability.Never again.

In hospitality, few factors - like location, access, weather etc. are beyond control. While few factors can be controlled - like guest services, attitude to customer care, attention to details etc.The resort has the following:- a tastefully decorated reception- a good view from rooms numbered 300 series like 301, 302 etc. (which are actually on 2nd floor), 400 series (3rd fl) or 500 series (4th fl)- a decent size pool (with a smaller kid's pool built in)- a rooftop covered dining area with separate areas for veg and non-veg food- a daily buffett breakfast & dinner service with reasonable choice (the chefs try & serve a mix of N. & S. Indian dishes with one Indo Chinese & a sweet dish at dinner).The property also has:- a slightly steep & narrow access (anything like a 12seater Tempo Traveller & only an expert driver can reach unscathed)- a lift that only goes upto 3rd floor (so rooms numbered 501, 502 etc. have to be accessed by stairs from thr 2nd floor) as well as the dining area as the lift doesn’t reach there- hence elderly or mobility challenged have to get food delivered to the room (that is done free of charge and with a smile).- food is average tasting (some times quality suffers but the chefs etc listen to feedback & tey to incorporate it.So all in all 3-star property vibes.However the staff deliver cheerfully.And that's what sets this property apart from the rest of the crowd.Despite the few issues that happened during our stay, the staff dealt with them promptly - starting with the reception team, the room service staff, dining area servers / chef and the guest relations manager (Ajeeth) - all of them attentive and willing to listen to customer's complaints and try to resolve issues.Absolutely 4-star customer service!Some of the issues may be avoidable with improved maintenance perhaps.However the smiling staff - willing to take care of issues - gives the property a 3.5 star status.I wouldn't be surprised if they climb stars based on this attitude alone.As I'll be cheering and praying for them that this attitude percolates to all areas and they start preventing avoidable issues.This is bound to take them even higher. Staff like Ajeeth are a credit to Samudra Teertham Hotel - I wish them All the very Best.Onwards & upwards, higher & better!
