Urban Retreat Homestay

Nice atmosphere and excellent service. A great spot for a family to stay.

Had an excellent homestay experience with great customer service provided by them.

I suppose our timing was just unfortunate. I stayed here a year ago, but thinking about Mangalore made me want to share my experience for future guests. No issues with the owner, who wasn't on-site; I informed her about these concerns as well. The caretakers were very rushed with everything. We arrived late at night and they hurried us through check-in without checking if we had enough water. Then, for two mornings in a row, they rushed us to eat breakfast immediately after it was served. On the second day, when we didn't eat right away, they gave us cold breakfast. When we tried to warm the pooris in the kitchen (it was a rainy day and we wanted hot food), they got annoyed and said we were told to eat when it was ready. We only asked to use the microwave or pan to heat it up, but they were unpleasant about it, so we ate without reheating. Similar issues happened with tea and other things, and they even called us on the phone to hurry us for breakfast. The strangest thing was seeing a caretaker rinse his mouth in the sink where guest dishes were cleaned—I wish I hadn't seen that. The caretakers also said they didn't prepare dinner on request, though we saw them cooking meals for other guests, albeit somewhat begrudgingly. The owner confirmed that dinner was available. Since this is a remote homestay near a national park, we chose it for that reason, but finding food was difficult and their behavior was disappointing. Being treated like we had to obey the caretakers' commands doesn't justify the high price. The caretakers seemed overworked and uninterested. They claimed to provide housekeeping, but our room was returned exactly as we left it, with no garbage removed or towels changed. So, that's the situation.

Our family, along with our pet, enjoyed a fantastic stay at Urban Retreat Homestay in Mangalore. The accommodation was cozy, tranquil, clean, and truly felt like a second home. It was a relief to find a pet-friendly place where our furry companion was greeted so warmly. We are grateful to the caretaker family for their kindness, hospitality, and attentive care during our visit. They were very accommodating, friendly, and ensured our comfort throughout. All in all, it was a delightful experience, and we highly recommend Urban Retreat Homestay to families and pet owners seeking a calm and homely environment in Mangalore. We look forward to staying here again! ❤️🐾
