Unique old palace with lots of character and heritage but looks tired and in need of some renovations. Staff were very welcoming and helpful
We paid a bomb and even ditched ITC for this place because the pictures were so manipulative. It is nothing like what they show. It is a vintage winter stay of the Mysore Maharajas, but when we reached there, there were hardly any people, we were like how and why? Thought may be cause of price.We had booked an Executive Suite, but the receptionist said he would upgrade us to a Luxury Suite. The minute we entered, it felt spooky and had a strange energy. The first thing I said was that it looks and feels haunted. We had no idea about the backstory because we were in a hurry to book a place since it was a weekend and everything was filling fast. We heard about the history of place by an employee during the lunch.We kept our luggage there and went for lunch. We had (rasam rice and some chicken) and were charged a bomb for it. We went around Ooty and came back in the evening. When we returned, all the staff were grouped together and watching something on the CCTV they dispersed the moment we entered, which felt very odd.We went to the room and it still felt scary. There were no other bookings. We locked the door and went for a shower. Lights were flickering. Throughout the shower, we kept hearing noises from the roof and thought there is someone on the top floor. We tried to ignore it but it kept getting worse. One of us kept saying the place felt familiar. We Googled it and found out it is known as a haunted place. That is when everything made sense. Also, found out there was no floor above. We decided not to stay there and booked another place immediately. We checked out within fifteen minutes saying we have an emergency.When we called for luggage help, the staff member looked around the room. At billing, they claimed the bathrobes were missing even though they were never there.The most disturbing part was a small opening on the floor that looked like an entry to a basement big enough to hide one or two people. I understand it may have been something from the king’s time, but it could have been sealed since it is open for guests.All the horror movies I have watched felt less scary compared to this. It felt like something was seriously wrong. Unless you want to experience this kind of negative energy please don’t book this place.Won’t recommend!!
