Good news for travellers! The Indian Railways has reversed the decision to cancel the Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi express and Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam Venad express trains.
On September 12, the national transporter announced that these trains will cease operations.

However, after a discussion with the state governments and public representatives, the railways revoked its decision.
The decision to cancel the trains had been taken due to less occupancy. Only 13.29% passengers were travelling by Venad Express while 24% were commuting by Jan Shatabdi trains.
Kerala government and MPs had approached the railways to reconsider their decision. MP N K Premachandran had written to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal explaining to him that these two routes were critical for daily commuters.
