However, after a discussion with the state governments and public representatives, the railways revoked its decision.

The decision to cancel the trains had been taken due to less occupancy. Only 13.29% passengers were travelling by Venad Express while 24% were commuting by Jan Shatabdi trains.

Kerala government and MPs had approached the railways to reconsider their decision. MP N K Premachandran had written to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal explaining to him that these two routes were critical for daily commuters.

Finally, both Venad Express and Jan Shatabdi Express trains will be running as per schedule.

Additionally, Netravati and Rajdhani express trains had temporarily ceased operations due to repair work on the Konkan route. The two trains resumed their regular service yesterday.
