Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is Mumbai’s primary airport and one of the busiest in South Asia. Located in Andheri East, the airport serves as a major gateway for both domestic and international air travel, connecting Mumbai to over 95 destinations worldwide. The airport features two main terminals and handles more than 50 million passengers annually, supporting significant economic and tourism activities in Maharashtra.
CSMIA is a key hub for Air India, IndiGo, Vistara, and several international airlines. Its modern infrastructure, extensive cargo facilities, and advanced passenger amenities make it a leading aviation center in the region.
CSMIA offers direct connectivity to major cities in India and across the globe. Key domestic routes include Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Goa. Internationally, the airport connects to Dubai, London, Singapore, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Paris, and New York, among others.
CSMIA operates two main terminals, each equipped with modern facilities and designed for efficient passenger movement.
A complimentary shuttle bus connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 every 20 minutes. Terminal 2 is recognized for its award-winning architecture and extensive art installations.
Passengers can check in online via airline websites or mobile apps 24-48 hours before departure. Self-service kiosks and traditional counters are available in both terminals. Security screening uses advanced technology, with recommended arrival times of 2 hours for domestic and 3 hours for international flights. Security processing typically takes 15-30 minutes during regular hours and up to 60 minutes during peak periods.
CSMIA offers a wide range of passenger facilities, including lounges, free Wi-Fi, ATMs, currency exchange, medical centers, prayer rooms, and baggage services. Terminal 2 features premium lounges, art galleries, a transit hotel, and business centers. Both terminals provide baggage wrapping, left luggage, children’s play areas, and accessible restrooms.
Prepaid taxis (Meru, Cool Cabs, black & yellow taxis) and ride-sharing services (Uber, Ola) are available at both terminals. Fares to South Mumbai typically range from ₹400-600. Dedicated pick-up zones are clearly marked outside each terminal.
BEST AC buses connect the airport to key locations in Mumbai (₹75-125 per person). Several hotels provide courtesy shuttles, and private shuttles are available for destinations like Pune.
The Airport Road Metro Station (Line 1) is near Terminal 1, providing access to Andheri and Ghatkopar. Andheri Railway Station (2 km from the airport) connects to Mumbai’s Western and Harbor lines. Public buses and auto-rickshaws are also accessible from both terminals.
CSMIA provides over 5,000 parking spaces, including short-term, long-term, valet, and premium options. Online pre-booking is available for discounted rates. Payment can be made via cash, card, or digital wallets.
Interactive airport maps are available on the official CSMIA website and mobile app, providing real-time navigation, terminal layouts, and wayfinding assistance. Digital signage and information desks are located throughout both terminals to guide passengers to check-in counters, gates, lounges, and amenities. Color-coded floor markings and clear signage support easy movement between areas.
