Alt Life Stays – Dharamkot Mcleodganj

I stayed at Alt Life Stays – Dharamkot McLeodganj for 3 nights (15–18 August 2026) during my first trip to Dharamkot, and the experience was genuinely memorable. The location is excellent — peaceful surroundings with a small natural water flow behind the property, while still being only around a 10-minute walk from the market, Tushita Meditation Centre and Dhamma Yoga. It was a very convenient location for exploring Dharamkot while enjoying a calm atmosphere. The biggest highlight, however, was the hospitality.Rahul, the manager, has a truly customer-centric approach and was very approachable and helpful. Sachin provided excellent service throughout my stay. A special appreciation to Rohit, who went above and beyond when I accidentally left some belongings at my previous property. He actually walked with me to the previous property to help me retrieve them. That was an exceptionally thoughtful gesture and something I will remember.Overall, my three-night stay added significantly to what was already a wonderful first experience of Dharamkot.Excellent location, peaceful surroundings and genuinely caring staff. Highly recommended.

I stayed here for one night and honestly, I wouldn't suggest this hostel. The location is quite far from McLeodganj. The room was dirty and didn't seem hygienic. Despite reminders, the washroom wasn't cleaned. There were no basic toiletries provided, not even soap or a towel. The mattress smelled bad, and the blanket cover appeared old and unwashed with dusty spots. Loud music played until about 1 AM, making it hard to sleep. The atmosphere seems more suited for drinking, smoking, and late-night partying rather than travelers seeking a quiet stay. It's not suitable for families or travelers who expect basic cleanliness and comfort. On the positive side, one or two staff members were genuinely helpful and polite. Overall, while I don't expect luxury from a hostel, clean rooms, clean washrooms, fresh bedding, and a peaceful night's rest are basic needs, and sadly, this place failed to provide those.

Bad behaviour by manager Rahul Roy . He dsnt know to speak with customers . I asked him to send someone to pickup my luggage but he kept saying someone will come but nobody turned till 30 mins then i took my luggage myself in rain .and he was quite rude . ALTLIFE is a good place they should change the manager
