I traveled from Delhi to Lucknow for my PG Entrance Exam at Lucknow University and booked Hotel Golden Orchid, Nirala Nagar via Agoda because it was near my exam center. When I arrived around 8 AM, the receptionist Ms. Rachna first quoted ₹3,500 for a room, but when I said Agoda showed ₹2,500, she told me to book online. Due to a payment glitch, my booking was confirmed for July 18 instead of July 16. I asked her to change or cancel the booking so I could rebook, but she demanded an extra ₹1,500 instead of helping. I contacted Agoda support in front of her. Even after Agoda asked the hotel to approve the date change, she insisted on extra payment and refused to cancel. When I asked to speak to the owner, she connected me to someone called “MD Sir,” who told her to change the date if Agoda requested it. Still, the manager tried to charge me ₹1,000. After about 1.5 hours of unnecessary arguing, the booking was finally changed without extra charge. The worst part was the receptionist’s behavior. She was rude, shouted, mocked me, and showed no professionalism or guest service skills. Even though I was the second guest waiting, she gave rooms to several guests who arrived after me, including a couple. She kept saying my room would be ready only at 2 PM, even though rooms were given to others and check-outs were happening in front of me. I explained repeatedly that my exam was at 2 PM and I booked because of the location, but she showed no sympathy and delayed my check-in unnecessarily. Thankfully, around 11:30 AM, the housekeeping supervisor handled things professionally and finally gave me my room. The room was clean, and the housekeeping staff were polite and helpful. My complaint is only about the receptionist and manager. They completely ruined my experience and caused unnecessary stress before one of the most important exams of my life. I have stayed in many hotels, but this was by far the worst front desk experience I have ever had. I sincerely ask the owner, Mr. Siddharth Seth, to address this issue.
