Royal Orchid Metropole Mysore

Its not upto 5 star but ok. Room interiors are outdated in the first category room, next category rooms are luxurious. We stayed in basic rooms i think it is called royal wing. It was not great very old style

The Royal Orchid Metropole is a beautiful colonial property surrounded by lush greenery that provides a serene and calming atmosphere. The rooms are nicely designed, maintaining their original old world style, and the terraces look out over the verdant grounds where crickets and frogs sing at night to gently lull you to sleep (I usually use Spotify for ambient jungle noises to sleep when I’m at home, but here it was all real life!). The food is also very delicious, and the open kitchen exudes its mouthwatering scent of tandoori specialties across the open courtyard. The staff will also warn you which items are spicy for those of us who cannot handle spice. The staff are lovely and attentive, but this is overwhelmingly limited to the women; the male staff are either useless or arrogant. Sneha is this establishment’s truest asset, she should run the whole show, with her caring and gentle demeanour and her can do attitude. She really made us feel like we were both heard and well looked after. Sonam was also lovely, and for Rani I do not have enough positive words; such a kind, considerate and humble human being. Ravi was also nice, as were the male restaurant staff in general. There is an uncle with glasses behind the reception who was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. When we asked for a second key to our room, he refused. We had an issue with insects in our first room, which this bespectacled uncle assured us he would see to. He did nothing. When I became incredibly ill and we asked for medicine, a suited manager told my friend to go and look for it himself. We are not locals, nor from India, and my friend was forced to stroll up and down the streets of Mysore looking for a pharmacy. And here we come to some of the issues. I would avoid the rooms on the ground floor to the left of the restaurant. Our room was nice but it was very dark and quite cramped. In fact, I accidentally bumped into the wooden bed frame so many times I am still left with a painful bruise on my thigh. The telephone did not work, and so we had to keep walking to reception or the restaurant to make requests. And then we had the issue of a particular insect swarming our damp and dingy bathroom, which was both scary and disgusting.Sneha finally upgraded us to a much nicer and larger room (I think it was 202), which is on the first floor, overlooking the main entrance but obscured by thick palm trees. It is a beautiful room, and it really elevated the rest of our stay, so much so that we wanted to extend it, but the whole hotel was booked up for a wedding and it was not possible.I would give this place 5 stars for everything but the male staff and our experience with the first room has brought down the score slightly. I would gladly stay at the Royal Orchid Metropole again.

Wonderful experience. As a solo female traveller I felt safe and welcome throughout. The royal wing room was lovely, historical but also clean and cosy. The property itself was so nice to relax and read a book at, and also very walkable to all the main areas and the train station. The staff were kind and clearly proud to be working here. I hope I can stay here again very soon!

The Heritage vibes here made the stay special. Food is good. However the service was slow during dinner time. The rooms are well decorated with vintage furniture style. However, the room could have been well lit. Attached balcony is well maintained and nice. Overall, a good experience. The staff is really friendly and well spoken- even the guard uncle helped us with the language barrier. Highly recommend for couples and families. Will not recommend for those with knee issue as most of the rooms are upstairs and there is no lift. Overall, first visit at Mysuru is now a core memory! Thanks

Excellent!!
