I have stayed at many Taj properties over the years and have always associated the Taj name with exceptional hospitality, comfort, attention to detail, and a distinctive experience. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Taj Malabar Kochi was one of the worst experiences I have had with a Taj property.I visited Taj Malabar Kochi with a lot of excitement to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday and was expecting a special and memorable experience. Unfortunately, the stay did not turn out as expected. Instead, we ended up having to visit other places to celebrate her birthday because the overall experience at the property was not what we had hoped for.The property did not have the usual Taj vibe or the level of ambience that I have experienced at other Taj hotels. The food was quite normal and did not stand out, while the rooms were also average and did not provide the level of comfort or luxury I expected from a Taj property.There were also wedding events lined up during our stay, and the lawn was filled with wedding-related materials and preparations. This made the outdoor areas feel occupied and did not give us the sense of privacy or exclusivity we were expecting during a special occasion stay. Given that we were there to celebrate an important milestone, this was particularly disappointing.Though the staff at the property were very friendly, courteous, and good, the overall experience was still extremely disappointing. The staff were helpful and deserve appreciation, but the overall property experience, ambience, rooms, food, and ongoing wedding preparations did not meet the standards I associate with Taj.Having stayed at Taj properties many times, I had much higher expectations from Taj Malabar Kochi. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet those expectations at all. What should have been a memorable celebration for my wife’s 30th birthday turned into a very disappointing experience, and we had to look outside the property to make the occasion special.I am sharing this feedback because I have genuinely valued my previous Taj experiences, which is why this particular stay was even more disappointing. Overall, despite the friendly and helpful staff, this was a very disappointing stay and one of the worst Taj experiences I have had. It did not meet the expectations I had from the Taj brand, especially for such an important occasion.
We enjoyed lunch and the food was excellent. Just make sure you know the prices before you treat yourself.
