The Garuda in Thrissur is a good hotel, but with more attention to detail, it could be a great hotel. The location is very convenient, staff are polite. I had a suite and the presidential suite. Neither room was cleaned or tidied by housekeeping during my 3 days there. One room is more expensive, but other than that, there isn’t much difference between them. The suites had good views, but they fall short in refinement and look and feel tired. Both rooms had comfortable beds, but they could be cleaner. I stayed 3 days, but couldn’t get any hot water for a shower. The top floor lounge was dark, dingy and not clean (even though there weren’t any other guests there). Ordering food from the menu there was hard because the single member of staff was more interested in looking at his phone and didn’t even realise that 5 guests had arrived, then barely anything on the menu was available. Breakfast buffet from 8 to 10 is hit and miss. On a good day, there is a good variety. On the second day at 8:10am, there were items missing because the kitchen was running late. On the third day at 9:10am, there was hardly anything available.
The facilities provided are good, however the cleanliness does not match the standars of a star hotel.
