Chariot Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram

Lovely resort with a wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and a calm environment. Sadly, our experience was ruined by a heavy mosquito presence in our room. Traveling with our baby, all three of us were bitten multiple times and couldn't get a good night's sleep. We tried contacting reception for assistance, but no one responded, and there was no staff available during the night to help. The following day, the manager offered a free lunch instead of properly addressing our issue, which we refused. The property is nice, but mosquito control and nighttime support require significant improvement.

1. The hotel is quite old, so don't have high expectations. However, it offers better value for its price compared to other options. 2. The food was quite bad, and the dining area lacked proper air conditioning, only having two portable AC units. Considering the crowd during breakfast, I was sweating the whole time. The food also didn't taste good. 3. We stayed in the Sea view cottage and booked three such rooms. One room's veranda had a non-working AC. When we asked maintenance, they said they knew about the issue. I don't understand why they sold that room at the same price as the others. 4. Room service was poor, and the telephones didn't work. 5. The location is nice, and the rooms are spacious. 6. The swimming pool was good. 7. The private beach didn't feel private since there were only a few guests, and they also held corporate events, so it lacked privacy. Overall, it was good. There is room for improvement, but I'm not sure if they prioritize it since they don't compete with more luxurious brands whose services might be better but come at a higher price.

My recent stay at this resort was very disappointing, especially since I paid about ₹10,000 for the cottage. I mistakenly booked for 1 adult instead of 2 and contacted the back-office a day before check-in. Initially, they said an extra ₹2,500 was needed for the second person, but later confirmed only ₹500 was required. Despite many calls, the back-office never sent the confirmation email to the front office, so the issue was unresolved when we arrived. I had to wait nearly an hour at check-in while the front office tried to fix this, asking me to call back-office again to send the email. This was very frustrating and embarrassing. The problems continued: the cottage door lock was broken and had to be fixed on arrival, the toilet door lock also didn’t work, and while at the pool, someone entered our room without permission and changed the refrigerator; a water bottle was half-opened, raising privacy concerns. Later, the toilet flush leaked water continuously; we informed reception at 10 PM and were told a plumber would come soon, but the problem wasn’t fixed. Around midnight, staff offered to move us to another room, but we were too tired to switch. We had to endure the sound of running water and mosquito bites all night. The next morning, I had paid for early breakfast at 7 AM, but was told it would be ready only at 7:35 AM, showing poor communication again. I left without breakfast. Overall, paying ₹10,000 for a stay that caused a sleepless, frustrating night was unacceptable. The main issue was the repeated lack of coordination, communication, and timely action. I hope management improves teamwork among back office, front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and restaurant staff. Basic things like room security, working locks, bathroom facilities, check-in, and honoring breakfast requests should not be so problematic at a resort.

Its waste of money.No proper support,Late checkin made to wait for over 45 mins. Food quality was bad.Room was not clean and AC was throwing out mouldy air.
