Present in residential area..but good atmosphere

We recently stayed at The Tides Mahabalipuram, and it was a highly disappointing experience. The photos on booking websites are extremely manipulative and do not reflect reality. The property is below average at best. The Rooms & View: The room space was extremely small and cramped. For“ocean view" rooms, but they conveniently hide the fact that there are multiple houses blocking the view between your room and the ocean. Service & Staff: There is a severe lack of proper assistance. Room cleaning was only done after multiple follow-ups. While the staff wasn’t explicitly rude, they were not helpful or proactive either. A simple order of two cups of tea took around an hour to arrive because the property has no in-house kitchen, and they had to source the tea from a nearby house. Location & Suitability: The locality itself is not very good. On the positive side, it is easily reachable from the local sightseeing spots. However, due to the lack of amenities and cramped space, this place is absolutely not suitable for couples or family groups. It might barely pass as an option for bachelors who only need a place to crash, but everyone else should look elsewhere.

We had an enjoyable stay and really liked our time here as a couple; the private terrace with a beach view was lovely! Overall, our experience was positive, and the staff were helpful and quick to respond. There were just a few minor issues that could be improved. The room would benefit from having a wardrobe, and there was a small water leak near the wash basin. It would also be handy to have a mirror inside the room instead of only in the bathroom. Additionally, we noticed the drinking water had a slight taste like bore water. We shared these points with the manager and appreciated their openness to our feedback. Hopefully, these small issues will be fixed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

Our recent stay at The Tides in Mahabalipuram was outstanding in every aspect. The location is just a few steps from the beach, offering the joy of waking up to the sea breeze and waves. It’s situated in a quiet area but still close to major sights like Shore Temple and Pancha Rathas. The rooms were immaculate, modern, and well-kept, with the sea-view balcony being a favorite spot during mornings and evenings. The bed was cozy, the air conditioning effective, and the bathroom spotless. The host and caretaker were very friendly, courteous, and always ready to help, making us feel at home throughout our stay. The atmosphere and amenities suit families, couples, or anyone seeking a peaceful coastal retreat away from city noise. The private rooftop with sea views was perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand. Overall, excellent value for money. If you plan to visit Mahabalipuram and want a clean, attractive beachfront hotel with excellent service, The Tides is a top choice. We will definitely come back. Many thanks to Roshan and the team!

The location offers stunning views and is situated just opposite a charming beach. The resort itself is cozy and welcoming.
