You have to walk 300m along a narrow, somewhat dirty path that cars can't access, which is the biggest downside of the hotel. They do send staff to collect your luggage from the road, but you still need to walk the last quarter mile, which is tough after long day trips. The toilets, bedsheets, and restaurant were clean. The food was good; I had breakfast and dinner for three days. The variety isn't large, with one non-veg option (egg for breakfast and chicken for dinner). Apart from some mango kheer on the first day, the sweets served at dinner like rice kheer and Kesari were not tasty. Breakfast included sandwich, poori/poha, juice, tea, coffee, and egg omelet. Dinner had rice, dhal, two vegetable dishes, chicken, curd, roti, and dessert. The room was small, with no proper spot for a chair. The cupboards looked old and dusty, filled with blankets and not very usable. The woodwork like drawers was average, reflecting a budget hotel. Only soap and two towels were provided, no other toiletries. There was a nice wooden sofa on the balcony. In one room, the mosquito door banged uncontrollably, and in another, the door rubbed the floor, making it hard to open or close. I didn't like the side of Dal Lake where the hotel is located; the lake was dirty and sometimes smelly in places. Service was good; staff were friendly, greeted us, and were prompt. When we arrived late one night for dinner, they kindly kept the counter open for us. A suggestion for the owner: while the location can't be changed, offering boat access as an extra service could turn this drawback into a unique selling point for guests.
