Hotel Ganga Monastery

Avoid staying at Hotel Ganga Monastery as it was a complete waste of money and a terrible experience. Upon arrival, a staff member named Pappu Yadav showed us the rooms and insisted we pay for the entire stay upfront. We were tired and hungry, so we paid without arguing. When we asked for lunch, he said the kitchen was closed but offered food packets from outside, which we accepted. The room was dirty and dusty, and the bathroom was as filthy as a public toilet until Pappu Yadav cleaned it after our complaint. We later found the same food packets outside at half the price. Room service was nonexistent. Despite charging ₹4500 per day, they did not provide toiletries or bottled water. We were told to order food, but they failed to deliver even a basic breakfast of toast, butter, and omelet that we had requested the night before. The hotel lacks a functional kitchen to serve proper meals. Pappu Yadav was rude and acted as if letting us stay was a favor. There was no room cleaning service, and stained bed sheets, pillow covers, and blankets were not replaced despite complaints. On our last night, Pappu Yadav knocked asking for tips despite providing no hospitality. On checkout day, he shouted at us for being late even though we informed him we would leave by 1 pm due to a late flight, while checkout time was 11 am. The room was also infested with lizard droppings. Overall, the hospitality was very poor, with the only positive being the view of the river Ganga.

Nothing about this place is satisfactory; it hardly qualifies as a hotel. Rooms aren't cleaned on time, beds are worn out, and there is no water kettle or bottled water. Everything falls far below acceptable standards, making it impossible to stay here. The Yadav person pretends everything is fine but then charges for the entire stay upfront. The rates shown online are misleading, and the staff manipulates the pricing. Overall, this place feels like a haunted house and is a total failure as a hotel. Google should remove this listing and take steps to prevent them from deceiving others.

It's a three-star hotel in Varanasi. Don't expect five-star quality. It's a good place to stay for a couple of days. It's quiet, and we recommend booking the rooms with Ganga view. They are spacious with a balcony, and the spirit of mother Ganga is passing by. The owner is supportive, and the staff is friendly. We felt safe and welcome. Assi Ghat is only a 5-minute walk away, where we found good places for breakfast and dinner since it's not served here. With a little more focus on details, the rooms could be improved, but it's Varanasi. Love it or leave it. We loved it!
