La Taara Beach Resort

The hotel goes by the name La Taara Feel Home. It's about 20 min from White town, Pondicherry. The hotel is unique because of its French Architecture such as large bathrooms, large ceiling height, wooden antique furniture, etc. There are 2/3 types of rooms prices from INR 7,000 to 10,000 which includes breakfast. Most of the staff is prompt and courteous. The things to improve are hot water availability (we had to wait for 5 /10 min with running tap) and breakfast arrangements. They serve buffet breakfast a-la-carte manner, a waiter served std. menu on demand, but we experienced a lot of delays in serving and without proper order (even though we ordered 1st, were given last). Breakfast options are idli, Vada, Dosa, Omlette, Puri Bhaji.

Stayed at La Taara Beach Resort ’ a wonderful property with charming French-style rooms that are spacious and beautifully maintained. The resort has a peaceful vibe and is just a 5-minute walk to Serenity Beach. Auroville is only a 20-minute drive away, making it a perfect stay for those exploring Pondicherry. The heritage room was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Overall, had a very good stay. I did have a few observations which I shared with the management and they said that they would take care. Mentioning them below so that it is indeed taken care of.1. The top of the cupboard in the room was covered with dust.2. The water closet (aka commode) was also a bit stained.3. The kettle was dirty and broken. It was replaced (or i guess so) with a comparatively cleaner one.4. DTH was not working (minor inconvenience) but it didn't bother us much5. The pathways/garden which go around the property need to be maintained. Grass had grown so much that we didn't feel comfortable walking.6. There is a tap to clean our feet and footwear after visiting the beach. Water doesn't get drained at all which could lead to mosquito breeding and causing dengue.7. While the food was great, one issue I had was they kept pooris on newspaper. I noticed this on my last day of stay. Had I noticed this earlier, I would have mentioned then and there. The cook, Mr. Thangadurai, seems like a good guy who takes care of everything in the kitchen. He apologized for keeping food on newspaper and had asked the manager to provide trays keep food. Hopefully that is taken care by now. I am writing this review one week after the stay.8. The AC in the heritage room is not powerful enough to cool the room well enough. The cooling was just okay even though temperature was kept at 16 degrees. The position of the AC can be changed or a simply more powerful AC is need for the heritage room.The manager, Douglas, had joined just a month back and said he is making changes. Hopefully all these points are taken care of.

For the ones who are booking this via make my trip or this platform be sure to check out the fact that it is a home stay not a beach resort as mentioned in the apps. We suffered hugely because of this. As we thought it was going to be a resort however it appeared out to be a vintage style home which for us was not a very convenient one. On top of that the location is situated in a pretty remote area. You need to walk atleast 1 to 2 km to reach the beach and they do not offer lunch or dinner. You need to order from outside or eat from the nearby restaurants which closes pretty early. However the staffs were friendly just posting this to make sure none goes there thinking it to be a resort.

Easily accessible as it is very near to the main road. Very friendly staffs. Clean rooms, and it's family-friendly. Rooms are with tall ceilings. You get plenty of ventilation. Serenity beach is walkable from here. If you are looking for a budget friendly, decent stay with your family, with friendly service go for it!
