Rock Castle Residency

We are a group of three couples, all around 50 years old, traveling in India. This homestay is quite possibly one of the best places we've stayed at.

Our time at Rock Castle Residency was truly outstanding, marked by hospitality that exceeds typical expectations. A big, sincere thank you to the owner, Mr. Gonbo. During a medical emergency late at night, he went above and beyond by accompanying us to the hospital. He didn't have to, but his generous support in a difficult moment is something we will always remember. He and his whole team are genuinely wonderful, kind people. Besides emergencies, Mr. Gonbo is very helpful with local arrangements and will easily assist with travel permits and local advice. The property itself is excellent, with a great location and plenty of parking, which is very convenient. The rooms are large and spacious, with dependable hot water. The staff are always friendly, and the food tastes comforting and homemade. If you want a cozy stay with big rooms, delicious food, and hosts who treat you like family, this is the place. It truly deserves more than five stars!

Mr. Gonbo and his family are extremely hospitable, polite, and supportive. They will attend to all your needs, and the food is fantastic as well.

Excellent hospitality, roomy accommodations, and a beautiful setting made this place ideal for a stay in Leh. Just a 7-minute walk to the Mall market.

I don't even know where to start, but after spending a month at Rock Castle, I can say it was an amazing experience. The staff are incredibly kind, and it felt like the perfect home. They have electricity and hot water available 24/7, and anything you need is provided right away. The food is fantastic, and the location is wonderful—very peaceful with a lovely garden. As a solo female traveler in India, I felt completely safe staying there and would strongly recommend it to other women. The internet connection was also very reliable, which helped me work remotely without issues. On top of that, when I left Leh, I lost a bag at the airport, and Gonbo went above and beyond to ensure he got it and arranged for someone to deliver it to me in another city. I am forever thankful for that and for my stay overall. I can't wait to come back and spend more relaxing days in Leh.
