The Elgin Darjeeling

My stay at The Elgin, Darjeeling was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped into this charming heritage property, I was enveloped in warmth, elegance, and impeccable hospitality.The hospitality truly stands out. The staff go above and beyond to make every guest feel special, offering personalized attention with genuine smiles. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and willingness to assist with even the smallest requests made the experience incredibly comfortable and memorable.The food was another highlight of my stay. Every meal was a delightful experience ’ beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. The menu offers a wonderful mix of local delicacies and international cuisine, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The dining ambiance, paired with attentive service, made each meal feel special and indulgent.Service at The Elgin is simply impeccable. Whether it was housekeeping maintaining the rooms to perfection, the front desk assisting with travel plans, or the restaurant staff ensuring a seamless dining experience, every department operates with remarkable efficiency and grace.The hotel’s old-world charm, cozy fireplaces, lush gardens, and breathtaking views of Darjeeling add to its magic. If you’re looking for a luxurious yet homely stay in the hills, The Elgin is truly an exceptional choice. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort, heritage elegance, and outstanding service in Darjeeling.

The hospitality is mesmerizing. Such lovely staff and the people take genuine care for guests. However, the rooms aren't quite up to the mark considering the amount of money charged. The bedsheets and pillow cases werent clean. It had traces of hair when we checked in. The bathtub mat was old and mouldy. The wifi doesn't work. The food is average. The continental isn't quite proper but the Indian ones are good. The location is just too ideal for a relaxing holiday.

Elgin Darjeeling is a beautiful heritage property that truly reflects old-world charm. Our three-night stay in the Deluxe Suite was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.The main building stands out with its vibrant decor and classic colonial character, adding to the property’s timeless appeal. While the food spread was limited, the dishes were delicious and the attentive staff made the overall dining experience enriching.The room was thoughtfully decorated, and the bed was especially comfortable and warm, perfect for Darjeeling’s chilly climate.Overall, it was a memorable stay and I would definitely recommend this property.

Had a good stay for 3 nights. Rooms are a bit old but everything was functional. Staff is courteous and food is good. It has a safe parking which was important to me as I'm on a road trip. Easy walk to the Mall road, Happy Valley tea state, Darjeeling train station, etc.

A heritage hotel managed by the Oberoi’s. Specifically Viraj Oberoi. And the service is 1/10. Child’s dinner? Be assured it will be late. I ordered for some dinner only to be given something inadequate. Then had the In Room Dining staff call me back to say I asked for the wrong portion. :) Service & hospitality died here. Trinamool party guests only may fetch good service. The property is great provided you pack your own lunches, dinners et al.In every service industry to err is human, but to call back the guest and pass the error onto them is criminal. I stay in hotels 42 weeks a year. And Oberoi Group just lost a loyal client at the altar of a rogue in room dining caller.Too bad. Not just that- had booked a cab service earlier via the hotel to visit a tea estate. They took us to a makeshift selfie point and tried hard to convince all tea estates were shut after Covid. :-) We did eventually badger the cab taken via the hotel to take us to a proper Estate. But you get the drift. Pick better. Avoid The Elgin like a plague.
