The hotel is conveniently located less than a km from the bypass but that is the only positive I see on my stay. The place was very dusty due to some road work and also construction going on at the hotel itself. The receptionist was far from friendly and in fact suggested that I cancel the Agoda reservation and book directly for a lower price. The room was not great either -- extremely dusty and apparently, used linen and towels in the room. Mini bar was not working either and had to be replaced. Kerala parottas for dinner were half cooked, at best.I was told that there will be a breakfast buffet but when I turned up the next morning, the restaurant in charge mentioned that buffet was cancelled. I could go on but as I mentioned in the beginning, except for the location, this was a bad choice for me.

The place is wonderful. My only issue is I booked twin room and they don’t have the twin room. So we have to compromise and add on an extra bed which was not very comfortable. It would make a lot difference if either the hotel or the Agoda hold true to their booking promises. If Agoda can never promise, then better don’t advertise as twin room.

A reasonably good hotel, though slightly far of from the city. The room I stayed was a deluxe double room. It was indeed suite, with a sitting room. There is a fridge, with a mini bar, which of course is payable. Kettle is there for making coffee/tea. There is a safe. Rooms are clean though some of the furniture looks old. There are plenty of plug points, so you don't have to fight for sockets to recharge. Toiletries are not a lot. A soap, dental kit and some moisturiser. As usual, though we were double occupancy double room and toiletries were only for one person. I had to ask three times for one more set. When I asked for the third time, they provided us with two extra toilet rolls !!! Obviously they don't know the difference between toiletries and toilet rolls ! The linen are clean. Bathroom is also clean. There is an enclosed shower area. If you are driving there, a few parking places are there in front of the hotel. Our problem was the address given in the Agoda invoice for the hotel. It said Ambara suites, Sankarankoil. This Sankarankoil was not known to the autorickshaw driver. It is written in the hotel brochure as Venpalavattom, not Sankarankoil. There is a bar and the ambience is not bad. Not very expensive also. On the first night we stayed, there was a DJ party with an admission fee of Rs. 300/-. You will get one drink, a beer, free! Parties seems to be a fairly common occurrence there, because the next day there was a karaoke party! As I found out there is a karaoke party on every Friday and Saturday night and DJ party once a month. When I was told breakfast will start at 7.30 am, I was happy, because I had to go by 8.00am for a meeting. Unfortunately by 7.30am most of the breakfast items were not ready. Still I could finish by 8.00 and get started. It is not a sumptuous breakfast, but enough for a person like me who don't eat much. Hospitality of the staff is good. They are very receptive to our queries and requests.
