Hotel Lake Palace

To begin my detailed review, I'll start with the positives. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, assisting us in every way they could. Our room was spacious and well-equipped with good amenities. The lake view was beautiful, especially in the morning. The pool was excellent for the hot weather, and they offered all the advertised games like badminton, pool, and board games. There were also paid activities available, which we didn't try but seemed appealing. Room service provided decent quality food, though the selection was limited, the food itself was good. The environment was very peaceful, perfect for evening and morning walks on the grass or relaxing by the pool. On the downside, the worst issue—and the main reason we won't return—was the water quality, which resembled sewage. The bath water was yellow with floating debris, and we couldn't use the bathtub in the lake view room as expected. Breakfast options were limited, with no live counters except for omelets, and the absence of dosa was quite frustrating. The main dishes were idly, puttu/idiyappam, and poori, with only a few side dishes. Not all lake view rooms have bathtubs, so it's important to confirm multiple times if that's a priority. Despite calling during booking and two days before check-in, we initially got a room without a bathtub but were moved to one from the second day, thanks to the helpful staff. The rooms had poor sound insulation, allowing us to hear everything from the hallway and pool area. The bar had a limited selection, no light alcohol, and didn't cater well to us. The front area was somewhat unpleasant due to an open-to-the-public bar attracting less desirable crowds, though we had no issues inside the resort or even at the front. Overall, the resort and staff are very good. However, food variety needs improvement, and the water issue must be resolved for the resort to remain viable. The price was high considering the food and water problems, but otherwise reasonable given the property quality. Lastly, the resort is quite far from the city, so having transportation is essential to avoid expensive taxi fares.

Terrible experience. The staff behaved poorly. The dishes are very overpriced. Neither we nor our friends will ever choose this place again. I don't understand why others leave positive reviews; I suspect it might be due to PR efforts. The pool area has a bad smell.

This property is very poor. It is not clean whatsoever. The water is yellow and has a bad smell. The restaurants rely on coolers because their air conditioning doesn't work. Additionally, they serve frozen food for breakfast, which is terrible. The location is on the outskirts, making it even worse. I would advise against anyone visiting this place!

I came here with my family for a wedding reception. The lawn by the lake offers a pleasant atmosphere and serves well for events. Getting here from Trivandrum city is challenging since it's located in a remote spot with narrow roads. When it rains, some parts get flooded, making driving dangerous. Parking space is limited, so we ended up parking on the roadside. Also, the place has a bar, and there were many locals around the courtyard and parking area, which made it less comfortable for families. Overall, the venue is nice, but the location and parking need improvement.
