The Monarch Hotel and Convention Centre

We visited The Monarch Hotel & Convention Centre for an Onam Sadhya and had pre-booked for dine-in, expecting a more organized process. However, upon arrival, we had to wait in a long line to get our dine-in coupon, which was shared with takeaway customers despite our pre-booking. After paying and getting the coupon, we were shown to the dining area. The setup felt more like a wedding or auditorium rather than a typical hotel dining experience. The Sadhya was okay, but the overall experience could have been improved. Service was very fast, with staff quickly serving rice, payasam, and other dishes, leaving little time to relax and enjoy the meal. Being from Trivandrum, I know Sadhya service is usually quick, but for a hotel Onam Sadhya, a more leisurely pace would have been preferable. In summary, the food was acceptable, but issues with crowd control, the coupon system, dining arrangement, and rushed service diminished the experience. Better organization and a slower serving style would have enhanced it greatly.

Monarch's Executive Bar offers a wonderful ambiance and a nice atmosphere. The liquor prices are fairly reasonable as well. On the downside, the food I tried was disappointing and lacked flavor. In general, I would highly recommend the ambiance and bar experience, but the food leaves room for improvement.

I had a fantastic visit to The Monarch Hotel & Convention Centre in Pothencode. The hospitality was outstanding, the food was tasty, the restaurant had excellent air-conditioning, and there was plenty of parking available. The modern atmosphere, cleanliness, and high-quality facilities were very impressive. I was so happy with my stay that I met personally with the General Manager (Sunil), Chief Chef (Bipish), and Restaurant Manager to thank the whole team. This place is truly unmatched in this area of Thiruvananthapuram, offering elegance, comfort, and great attention to detail. Kudos to Mr. Rafi and his family, the owners, for creating such a beautiful and refined hospitality experience in Kerala. Many thanks to everyone at Monarch.

I ordered two Onam Sadyas from Monarch Hotel yesterday, but the experience was very disappointing. I was eager to enjoy a good Onam Sadya, yet almost everything fell short of expectations. The curries were all quite poor, the rice was undercooked, and even the three payasams were not satisfactory. Overall, the food quality was very low and not what I anticipated from a hotel. There was also a billing problem. When I first ordered, the F&B staff member (Unni) told me the price was ₹1,200 per Sadya including tax. Based on that, I ordered two and paid ₹2,400 upfront. But when I came to pick up the food, I was told that was a mistake and I had to pay extra tax. Having paid the amount as informed, I found this very upsetting, especially since the food was so poor. Sadly, this ruined my Onam celebration. I hope the hotel considers this feedback seriously and improves both the food quality and the clarity about pricing and service.
