Hermes Resort & Spa

The rooms are nice and spacious with good fittings and a roomy bathroom, and the food is good. However, there is a lack of maintenance. I strongly urge the owner to take care of the property, as it should be rated 4 to 5 stars, but due to poor upkeep, it feels more like a 2-star hotel now.

Our experience at Hermes Resort & Spa, Udupi was one of the biggest letdowns of our trip. We chose this resort based on the appealing photos and amenities advertised online, especially the swimming pool, water slides, and indoor games, expecting to enjoy them during the rainy season. Unfortunately, most of these facilities were either closed or in poor shape. The indoor games area was very dirty with water on the floor and stray dogs wandering around, making it clear the resort was not well maintained. The pool and water slides were not working, and instead of informing us before check-in, the staff kept promising they would open later or the next day, but nothing happened. Our room was also disappointing with a broken TV and a bad smell of alcohol and non-vegetarian food. Although they offered a different room, the main attractions of the resort were still unavailable. The worst part was when staff admitted they hide information about closed facilities, broken amenities, and slow Wi-Fi on booking sites to protect their ratings. We traveled a long way hoping for a relaxing stay but ended up wasting time and money, and because we trusted their promises, we missed the chance to book elsewhere. I hope the management becomes more honest, as misleading guests by advertising unavailable facilities is unfair and spoils the travel experience. The resort is definitely not worth the price in its current state.

Had a poor experience with the hotels; they are not well maintained. The rooms are large but also not kept up properly. There was an unpleasant odor on the veranda and in the elevator. I would not suggest staying here.

We chose Hermes Resort & Spa, Udupi based on the attractive photos and amenities advertised online, like the swimming pool, water slides, indoor games, and other facilities. Since it was the rainy season, we wanted a resort where we could enjoy these features. Sadly, our stay was the exact opposite of what we expected. Right after check-in, it was obvious the property did not match the online portrayal. - The indoor games area was in poor shape, with dirty water on the floor, dogs wandering inside, and the whole area neglected. - The pool and water slides were completely shut, but this was never disclosed before booking. - Our room had a broken TV and smelled strongly of non-vegetarian food and alcohol. - Staff promised to change our room and assured us the water slides would be open by evening and the pool cleaned by morning. We believed them and stayed. - Yet, nothing changed; the pool and slides were still closed the next day. The worst part is the hotel deliberately hides these issues on booking sites. When we asked why these problems weren’t mentioned, they said revealing things like a closed pool, broken TV, or slow Wi-Fi would hurt their ratings. Because of these false assurances, we lost our precious vacation time. We couldn’t enjoy the resort, and by the time we realized the truth, it was too late to find another place. Our trip was ruined. Advice for future guests: Don’t trust just the online photos and descriptions. Call the hotel before paying to confirm if the pool, water slides, indoor games, TV, Wi-Fi, and other amenities are actually working. If possible, visit the property before booking. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Guests come from far away, spend their hard-earned money, and deserve honesty. Advertising unavailable facilities is misleading and unfair. Very disappointing stay. I cannot recommend this property as it is now.
