Wonderful stay, irrespective of the whether conditions. We have seen camp fire, gym, kids play zone, good menu for buffet, car parking, friendly staff and for me it was also felt budget friendly for 2-3 days stay.

To mention a few names - Rajeev GM, Karthik, shweta, Seba....of front office, Anguri, Porismita, Aadesh .... of the restaurant , maintenance staff and the staff at the spa were exceptional.

Considering the facilities offered, it’s very expensive. Absolute no value for money. Staff is extremely arrogant especially the restaurant staff. The newly joined Asst Maager Aadesh was the only nine who was trying to cater the customers rest all were unbothered. The restaurant is totally mismanaged with very limited options available. There was no room choice given. They told us that they have upgraded the room for free but the room offered was not that good with very limited ballet view and no balcony. Absolutely no value for money and such kind of service is not expected from a brand like Sterling.

Here’s a more balanced version with the improvements naturally placed in the middle while ending strongly on the positives:Our stay at Sterling Elk Hill was truly memorable, and what made it exceptional was not just the property, but the incredible people behind it.The biggest highlight of the property is undoubtedly the breathtaking valley and town views. Watching the sunset from the hotel was absolutely magical and honestly made every penny worth it. The location and atmosphere together create a perfect hill-station experience.But more than the property itself, it’s the warmth, care, and hospitality of the staff that really sets this place apart. You can genuinely feel that they care about making your stay comfortable and memorable.A special thanks to Shailendra for constantly checking on us and ensuring everything within the hotel was smoothly taken care of. Hariharan and the entire restaurant team made our dining experience wonderful — some of the best and most delicious food we had during our trip was here. Their Chinese dishes are excellent, and even the Dal Tadka and Rotis were outstanding. Rajat and the restaurant staff were also incredibly kind, courteous, and welcoming throughout our stay.The buffet spread was good as well, with a nice mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.There are a few areas where the property can improve further. During busy hours, the restaurant team could benefit from additional staff training to manage the load more efficiently. Similarly, the responsiveness at the bar can improve — attending to guests seated at tables should ideally take priority over billing activities. Another small issue we faced was with the water heater in our room, where the water was more lukewarm than properly hot. Another key point is cross ventilation in the room, you might have to ask fans for hotter nights. They slowly might have to think of ACs during for hot summer afternoons. That said, the overall experience remained excellent because of the people here.A very special mention to Sachin from the transport team, who handled all our transportation end-to-end seamlessly. Even while he was on leave, he coordinated everything and ensured things were going smoothly for us. He also manages the campfire evenings, which turned out to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the stay — meeting and interacting with people from all over made the experience even more special.Thanks as well to Srinivas from housekeeping for his care and support throughout our stay.The property also has excellent recreational facilities including table tennis, board games, PS5 gaming for enthusiasts, and a large well-maintained snooker table, which adds a lot to the overall experience.In the end, what makes Sterling Elk Hill truly special is the people. We didn’t just connect with the property — we built a bond with the wonderful individuals who run it every day with genuine warmth and hospitality. That human touch is what will make us remember this stay for a long time and without hesitation, I would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ooty.
