My stay at Three Hills Resort (Madikeri) was very disappointing. I strongly suggest families, especially those with young kids, to reconsider before booking here. I felt pressured by a resort staff member to book right away, being told many others were waiting for rooms. The property was described in a way that didn’t prepare us for its actual location, which is about 20 km from Madikeri town on poorly maintained, unlit roads that are dangerous to drive on after dark. I reserved a room for two days and paid an advance for one day, but due to a personal emergency, I had to leave a day early. We arrived around 7 PM with my family, including my five-year-old, and informed the staff we’d stay one night and leave by 11 AM the next day. While I understand cancellation policies, the staff’s handling was unacceptable. They insisted on full payment for two days despite our early departure. When I explained my situation, they just said it was the hotel’s rule and questioned why we were leaving early, suggesting we should stay both nights since we paid for them. Is this how a resort should treat a family in an emergency? I wasn’t asking for a free stay, just some understanding and consideration. Instead, it felt like they cared more about full payment than basic courtesy. The pressure to book, misleading location info, unsafe roads, and poor customer service made this a very unpleasant experience. My advice: families should verify the exact location, road safety, and payment policies before booking and not rely only on what’s told during booking. I won’t choose this property again.
