Chechus Resort

We stayed at this hotel for two days in July as a group of four. The rooms appeared clean and upscale, and they provided a hair dryer, kettle, coffee sachets, and other basic items. However, our experience was disappointing due to two main problems: breakfast and hot water. The hotel claims to offer a complimentary breakfast buffet, so we expected a decent selection, especially local Kerala dishes like puttu, appam, idiappam, and idli. Instead, the breakfast was very limited. On the first day, they served only chapati with sambar, bread, butter, and jam. On the second day, it was dosa with sambar, one vegetable curry, and the same bread, butter, and jam. Calling this a "buffet" felt misleading, and we were quite let down. The biggest problem was the absence of hot water in the mornings. For both days, there was no hot water until about 10:00 AM. When we asked the staff, they casually explained they only have a solar water heating system, so we had to wait for the sun or use the room kettle for hot water. This is unacceptable. Guests often leave early for sightseeing or other plans, and expecting them to bathe with cold water is unreasonable. If hot water isn't available early in the morning, this should be clearly stated before booking. We also noticed a bad odor from the room refrigerator. It contained chocolates like Snickers and Dairy Milk, which were chargeable. One small Snickers, usually costing around ₹10, was priced at ₹60 on their list, which seemed excessive. Also, one of the air conditioners was not cooling properly. The receptionist was polite and spoke softly, which we appreciated. However, good manners alone can't compensate for the lack of basic amenities. Overall, the clean rooms were the only positive aspect. The poor breakfast and lack of hot water in the morning completely ruined our stay.

I stayed at Chechu's Beach Walk Resort and was very disappointed. I paid nearly ₹10,000 expecting a comfortable and professional stay, but the way minor issues were handled left a bad impression. The main problem was not the cost but the lack of clear communication. I was charged for Masala Tea that wasn't on the menu and wasn't informed beforehand. Although they apologized later, this showed poor management. Also, I was charged for a broken bottle without proper proof or reasonable explanation. If guests are charged for damages, the process should be transparent and backed by real details. While I appreciate the apology, it doesn't fully make up for the inconvenience and loss of trust. A good stay depends not just on the room or location but also on how problems are handled. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this resort and hope management improves their service for future guests.

I travelled solo to Varkala and it was my 1st time, the staff made se so comfortable I never felt alone.. The rooms are great and clean. Very close to the beach and other attractions..
