The Xanadu

Xanadu is a well-kept 3-bedroom villa situated about 8 km from the center of Coonoor. Each bedroom has its own pricing depending on its size and amenities. Since the villa can host different guests in each room, the entrance is shared unless the whole property is booked at once. The place is run smoothly with three staff members ready to help guests. The food prepared on order was tasty and had a homely feel. However, the food bills include an 18% GST, which the owners might want to reconsider since the menu prices are already somewhat high. A standout feature of the villa is its lovely front and back lawns. The back lawn, which looks out over the valley, provides a breathtaking view, especially when clouds drift around the area. Luckily, during our visit, the third room was empty, so our family enjoyed full privacy and a quiet environment. A small recommendation for the owners would be to offer discounted meals for cab drivers, as there are no nearby restaurants or dhabas close to the villa. In general, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Xanadu and appreciated the tranquil setting.

Our stay at Xanadu Coonoor was fantastic! The place is stunning, tranquil, and provides amazing views. The rooms were cozy, the meals were delicious, and the hospitality was top-notch. We are especially grateful to Aparna for her kind and welcoming nature, which made our visit unforgettable. This was among the best stays we've had, and we look forward to returning!

Beautiful home located in a gated community offering stunning views. It is peaceful and removed from traffic and noise. Walking is safe without worry of bison, with paved roads and good security. We didn't have any meals here, but the staff were polite and welcoming.

Overall, this place feels like a 3-star hotel, though it has the potential to be rated 5 stars. The presence of bugs and an intrusive owner negatively impacted the stay. I shared a video with the owner, who responded that they had fixed the net windows to prevent such issues and were surprised the bugs got in despite that. She also mentioned that the insects came in due to the rains. Considering the price of about 13,000 per room per night, we expected the shower and restrooms to be free of bugs. Additionally, the drivers were denied drinking water, which is a basic need, and were told that everything is monitored by CCTV and overseen by the owner. On the positive side, they allowed us to park our cars on the property and let the drivers change and freshen up.
