Really great service and a beautifully kept and spotless room

I stayed at Grand Hriday Hotel in September 2026 and had a very bad experience with their rooms. The first room I was given was infested with many cockroaches. After I complained, they moved me to another room, but that one was even worse, with over 100 cockroaches in the fridge, bathroom, and near the side table. The location is decent, but the rooms were awful. I strongly advise against staying at Grand Hriday.

Excellent hospitality with very courteous staff and clean, tidy rooms. We booked 4 rooms, all of which were spacious and well kept. The staff were very helpful with everything. Great value for the price, highly recommended.

The room I entered immediately smelled strongly of cigarettes. I was ready to overlook that, but then I saw over 40 roaches scurrying around and coming out from wall cracks. Instead of switching my room right away, they sent someone to kill the bugs, which only made them scatter more. Some even landed on my bed, so they finally moved me to another room. The new room on the 4th floor still had two roaches that I had to kill myself. They left a green salad in the room as a gesture, but never gave me the room key despite my repeated requests. I had to get the key from reception myself, only to find it didn’t work because the door had no lock. There was no safe place for my belongings, and they didn’t fix or change my room again. On top of that, the WiFi on the 4th floor didn’t work and they didn’t resolve this after I reported it. I checked out early the next day. The man at reception yelled at me and tried to grab my luggage, forcing me to pay for extra nights I didn’t stay. I refused to be intimidated. He said I should have canceled within 30 minutes of check-in to avoid charges, instead of taking responsibility for the filthy and unsafe rooms and his failure to fix the problems. He called his boss, who apparently told him not to charge me for the full stay. I paid for one night and left. Then they marked me as a no-show on Booking.com, which seems like a way to prevent me from leaving an honest review. To anyone thinking about staying here: this hotel is disgusting and unsafe, the reception staff may be aggressive, and they will lie to booking platforms and avoid accountability whenever possible. My first experience as a foreigner in Punjab was frightening, but I hope future experiences will be better since I haven’t faced anything like this elsewhere in India.

A great choice for travelers mindful of their budget. The hotel is located right opposite the back entrance of Amritsar Jn. Railway Station. Just cross the street and you reach the hotel reception. The food served from the hotel's kitchen was tasty and the service was prompt. The staff, especially at reception, were courteous and professional, understanding the needs of a solo traveler. They didn’t push me to order more food and even advised over the phone that a half portion of the paneer dish would be sufficient for one person. I truly value their service and hospitality. The room, number 405, was adequate for the price paid. There were minor stains and some salt buildup on bathroom fixtures, but everything was functional given the cost. I will definitely return here again when traveling on a budget.
