Solo Traveller • India • Oct 2026Had seen many good reviews about Zostel, but this doesn’t live up to my expectations. Things to be improved:Hygiene: The place feels dirty, floors are always sticky. Facilities: No toiletries, no towel, no locks provided, all of these you need to pay extra for. This is something new to me, to see everything is charged. A/C: Stayed for 4 nights there, they just don’t turn on the A/C at night by default, and I had to go ask for it to be turned on every single night. And the A/C doesn’t even work well, still feels a bit warm in the room. Bathrooms: Dont understand why the bathrooms are far from room. Every time one has to pass through the living room or common area and dining area, to reach the bathrooms.Clothes drying rack: Not enough racks and the place to hang dry clothes is not properly ventilated, clothes might get smelly . Shoe rack: Not enough shoe racks outside apparently, a lot of shoes on the floor, anyone outside can just come and take. Staff: Staff seems really unbothered during my stay, like not friendly but not unfriendly either, just unbothered, which is not what I have expected from such a famous hostel. Met some other travellers who mentioned that this Zostel is not as good as the other Zostel at other place they have stayed in.Overall it’s the cheapest place in CPSN so I’m not complaining, but these are just the things that could be improved. Still recommended!

The ambiance was clean and appealing, the rooms were cozy, and the bathroom was spotless with no problems with hot or cold water. The host was very friendly and fun. This hostel is the most community-focused one I've experienced! Every staff member is kind and supportive, the building is beautifully arranged, and the community manager, Giriraj, creates a very inviting atmosphere (his social skills and charm are a major reason to return). I think this place is perfect for solo travelers since all the help you might need is readily available! If I get the chance to visit Maharashtra again, I will definitely stay here once more.
