Zostel Varkala

This was my first solo trip ever, and the fun I had with the entire Zostel Varkala team was incredible. Thanks to the Zostel cafe team—Lakshman, Nitin, Ravinder, Salman, Sheejal, Shamil, cafe manager Rajeesh, and Sajina—for the great food. Special thanks to Prem Bhai for bringing the happiness I was seeking; I had so much fun with him and learned a lot about life, which I really needed. I planned this trip to find peace, and after 8 days in Varkala, I have some of the best memories to cherish. Shraddha and Mohammed were amazing volunteers—thanks for all the endless laughs and beach explorations.

Staying at Zostel was a great experience, located right next to Black Beach. The place was very clean and hygienic, and Jobhi was very friendly and helpful to us.

Jobi was a very friendly host. Overall, the experience was fantastic. The location is within walking distance of the black sand beach.

I spent 4 wonderful days at Zostel Varkala, and it truly felt like a second home. The hostel exudes a lively and friendly atmosphere, largely thanks to the amazing volunteers, especially Muhammed Safeer Khan and Mobby (Mubashir). They made every guest feel welcome and included. We enjoyed unforgettable sunsets at Kaapil Beach playing frisbee and football, exciting swims in the backwaters and sea, calm walks to Eduva Beach, and many memorable nights at the hostel. From intense Mafia games to late-night hide-and-seek and other fun activities, each day was full of laughter and new friendships. Their enthusiasm is what makes Zostel Varkala unique. However, my interaction with the Operations Manager, Jobby, was disappointing as he seemed rude, unapproachable, and did not take responsibility when problems arose. Hospitality is not just about the place but also how guests are treated, and this area needs improvement. I sincerely urge the Zostel Head Office to acknowledge Muhammed Safeer Khan's excellent work. His leadership and hospitality skills are outstanding, and I believe he would be a great Operations Manager, enhancing the guest experience further. Despite this one downside, my stay was unforgettable because of the wonderful people and volunteers who made every moment special. Thanks to Safeer, Mobby, and the whole Zostel Varkala family for the memories I will always treasure.
