Starting with the positives: The hotel is conveniently located close to Bangalore's CBD, which is very helpful given the city's heavy traffic jams. The breakfast offered in the main lobby restaurant is extensive, featuring Indian, Asian, and Western dishes, and is very satisfying. The staff at the Horizon executive lounge are also very capable and efficient. Now the negatives: The service at this hotel is almost comically poor. I don't mean rude—the staff are very polite—but they are largely ineffective and seem to lack proper training. Some examples: LAUNDRY: I gave two suits for overnight pressing at 11pm, telling the staff I needed them by 8:30am for meetings. He confirmed they would be ready by then. However, the next morning they were not returned on time. After three calls and 15 minutes, the suits finally arrived, making me late. The hotel had a promotion for 4 laundry items at Rs.999, which I used daily. At checkout, the deal was not applied and I was charged full price until I pointed it out. It took 15 minutes of back and forth to fix the bill. CONCIERGE: The concierge seemed clueless about his role. I asked for help booking dinner at a specific restaurant, which confused him. After several discussions, I had to escalate to the manager who eventually sorted it out. FRIDGE IN ROOM: The minibar fridge was broken. I asked the front desk to replace it, and though they promised to do so, it took three follow-ups before it was fixed. THE ROOM: Typical Shangri-La standard, but I was disappointed the shower lacked both an overhead and adjustable hand shower. OVERALL: This is an okay hotel, but the service does not meet the usual Shangri-La standards. I probably won't return.
