Courtyard by Marriott Surat

This is my first visit to Gujarat (so does Surat), but i have been a bonvoy member since many years. One of the reason i usually prefer marriott is, i never get surprises. And Courtyard surat is no difference. If you are lookinh for luxury, comfort, variety, etc, you should not think beyond courtyard surat. In general all staffs are very pooit3 and supportive, Specifically i want highligt service by Soumen. His was very polite, down to earth, knows how to interact with customers. Hope this review helps you decide your stay at surat. Cheers !!

The rooms are very spacious and well decorated. The buffet breakfast was excellent, but the hotel’s location is a bit outskirt of town. The room service is well maintained.Except for breakfast, the other meals and dinner are good, but non’veg dishes like fish are not available.The staff's behaviour are very nice.

In general good experience, we checked-in around in early morning and it was quick. In general clean room and good staff. Haven’t had chance to explore facilities due to our schedule.

What a rubbish Marriott experience.After checking in advance with the Marriott helpline because of language barriers, I was told this hotel would be able to serve alcohol so long as I had my passport and drank in the room.Great, so I booked! Right upon arrival, I asked the check-in staff (Sangita) whether I could obtain alcohol and she said after a few formalities (a piece of paper declaring the hotel has nothing to do with the service) I could order. After check in I was told to go to my room and someone would come along with a form.I dropped my bag and waited. 20 mins and no one turned up, so I called the front desk. The phone was as constantly engaged and when it did ring, wasn’t being answered for a long time (video attached).After that call about 10 mins later someone came with the form. OK, what do I do now? The attendant had no idea and after (eventually) getting hold of the front desk again, was told to go to the bar to order.So that’s what I did, no one to be seen at all (pictures attached)! The cleaner then ushered me back to the front desk. I was then told to leave the hotel and turn right and I would be served there’. OK so I’ve not done this before but respect jurisdiction.Got to the ’supposed Bar’ door I needed to be at with some help and it was closed!Ushered back inside and they told me alcohol will be available from 1pm the next day! Well that’s no good because I check out before then!So. I chose this hotel after validating alcohol service was available. Gave another chance to the check-in staff (Sangita) who assured me liquor was available. But in the end, it wasn’t.I get the control of alcohol is strict but there needs to be a level of service that goes with that and I blame the person I spoke to over email at Marriott Seattle and Sangita at Marriott Surat for incorrectly advising me.Abhishek, the front office manager had his hands tied and felt my raft which upon reflection apologise for. However I’m appalled the duty manager refused to refund me because I allegedly spent more than 1hr in the room which is complete nonsense as much of it was time taken with all of the above. I left the room in the same way as I walked in.The duty manager cowardly refused to come to the front desk and speak with me.I was refunded by Expedia, the hotel did not reimburse me.To add salt to the wounds, I asked for a taxi and they didn’t even pay for it.There’s a reason why this hotel is quiet, the local voice may be correct. They say after Marriott took the place over, it lost its appeal.AVOID.Update, reply from Abhay Tandel added.As you can see, the hotel still refuses to acknowledge they failed to address1) Why did the staff not know alcohol was unavailable that day.2) Why did the duty manager fail to refund me or speak with me in person about the matter3) Why they were happy to let a foreigner of the country to go away in a taxi without the security of payment

Bathroom had mold and toilets had yellow stains. Despite talking to staff, they didn’t take any actions rather than assisting or addressing the issue. Curtains also had significant amount of mold. Rooms were not ready even at 4:45 PM. Staff only provide lip services with no follow up actions. Disappointed to see a Marriott property in such situation.
