We dined at Pashchim, the signature Indian restaurant at Kohinoor Continental, for a family dinner today, and it was a delightful culinary journey. If you appreciate regional Indian dishes served with elegance, this place is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is cozy, elegant, and ideal for a relaxed meal. The decor has a classic fine-dining vibe with soft lighting and comfy seating, making it great for family get-togethers or business dinners. Even though it's inside a hotel, the restaurant feels inviting rather than too formal. The service was especially commendable. The staff were polite, attentive, and well-informed about the menu. They gave great suggestions and made sure each dish arrived at the right moment without disturbing our conversations. We tried a variety of dishes from different regions, and each had its unique character. The Palak Chaat Nachos were a fantastic starter—a creative fusion of crispy spinach with crunchy nachos, yogurt, chutneys, and spices. The mix of sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy elements made every bite enjoyable and addictive. The Moorg Ke Soole stood out as a highlight. Tender chicken pieces marinated with fragrant spices and grilled perfectly. The smoky grill flavor combined with juicy chicken made it an excellent appetizer. The Veg Matka Maratha was rich, hearty, and packed with authentic Maharashtrian flavors. Fresh vegetables cooked in a robust, mildly spicy gravy and served in a traditional matka gave it both character and authenticity. It paired well with the Indian breads. The Saoji Mutton was the star dish. True to Nagpur-style, the curry had bold spices, deep flavors, and a slow-cooked richness that was unforgettable. The mutton was very tender, soaking up the masalas while staying juicy and flavorful. To go with the curries, we ordered various Indian breads. The Butter Rotis were soft, fresh, and lightly buttered, perfect for scooping up the rich gravies. The Phulkas were light, wholesome, and freshly made, offering a healthier option without losing taste. The Butter Naan was fluffy with slightly crisp edges and generously buttered. It paired wonderfully with both the Veg Matka Maratha and Saoji Mutton. The Ghaune was unique and worth trying. These soft, delicate rice pancakes had a light texture and complemented the spicy Saoji curry beautifully, adding an authentic regional touch. What impressed us most was that every dish kept its regional identity instead of tasting similar under different names. The kitchen clearly focuses on authenticity while presenting the food elegantly. The overall experience was enhanced by the peaceful ambiance, attentive service, and beautifully plated dishes. Although the restaurant offers premium cuisine, the vibe is warm and comfortable rather than intimidating. In summary, Pashchim at Kohinoor Continental is a great spot for anyone wanting to explore India's diverse regional flavors in one place. Authentic recipes, quality ingredients, refined presentation, and excellent hospitality make it a memorable dining experience. We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly and would happily return to try more from their menu.
