An old charm home stay that takes you back to the colonial era. Ideal for a group stay. The breakfast provided was bare minimal and they serve only jain food in the property. Outside food is not allowed. The staff were very courteous and helpful too.
We spent one day at Redhouse Villa in Ooty and found the experience very disappointing (on 27th May 2026). The room was badly kept and had a foul odor. The bathroom was terrible — the wash basin appeared yellowed as if uncleaned for a long time, the floor was wet, and there were leftover soap bits and hair from previous guests. The door lacked a proper lock and had to be secured with a wire. When we mentioned this, the manager, Mr. Vivek, dismissively said the doors are like that and assured us not to worry since other guests were nearby, which felt unprofessional and unsafe. The TV never worked despite repeated promises to fix it. Mr. Vivek was rude and spoke harshly whenever approached. The only positive was the assistant manager, Mr. Asish, who handled everything from check-in to serving food and check-out. Breakfast was very basic, just idly and poha with chutney and sambar, which is unacceptable for a self-proclaimed 3-star hotel. The only enjoyable part was the well-organized campfire at night. At ₹6000 per day, the villa is not worth the cost. Overall, poor upkeep, unsafe facilities, unfriendly management, lack of amenities, and low-quality food made this a very bad stay. I cannot recommend Redhouse Villa and suggest avoiding it.
