Diplomat Hotel

My check-in experience at Hotel Diplomat, Mumbai was very disappointing. We arrived late at night around 11 PM with our one-year-old child, tired from traveling. Unfortunately, we didn't have a physical ID with us due to an honest mistake but promised to provide it first thing in the morning. Despite explaining our situation and the presence of a small child, Mr. Shahid (or Mr. Shajid) at reception refused to let us check in or even allow the child to enter the room to rest or order food. This felt very insensitive and unhelpful, especially given the late hour and that we were traveling with a baby. We had to involve the nearby Colaba Police Station to get the issue resolved, and only then were we allowed to check in. While we understand the need for ID verification, a more compassionate and practical approach, especially for late arrivals with infants, would have been better. Hospitality should be about caring for real human situations, not just enforcing rules.

Nice hotel featuring clean rooms, helpful staff, and a convenient location

The location is reasonably priced. Some noise from the busy streets was anticipated, and the rooms were well kept. The service was excellent all around, with staff being polite and professional. Overall, it was a pleasant stay as many popular attractions were within walking distance.

My stay at Hotel Diplomat was very enjoyable. I arrived at the restaurant around 10:45 AM, late for breakfast, which was complimentary but nearly finished. The staff were very polite. Rather than just saying breakfast was finished, they informed me that only limited items were left and kindly offered to bring breakfast to my room if I preferred. They delivered hot, freshly made pooris and coffee to my room, which was a very considerate act. They could have simply said "Breakfast is over" and stopped there, but they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. These small acts and the staff's attitude truly make a stay memorable. I really value their hospitality and warm service and will definitely think about staying at Hotel Diplomat again on my next trip to Mumbai.
