We had booked a Colonial-style room for one night. Unfortunately, the pictures provided on the website were quite different from the actual room. While the bed linen was extremely clean, the sofa upholstery had visible stains and the rug was not clean either.When we raised these concerns, the staff handled the situation very graciously and promptly changed our room. The staff throughout our stay was extremely polite, courteous, and helpful.The food was excellent, and the property itself is huge and has beautiful vintage furniture, which adds to its charm. However, the property needs better upkeep and maintenance to truly live up to the standards and reputation of the brand.Overall, the warm hospitality and excellent food were definite highlights, but the maintenance and presentation of the rooms need more attention.
We stayed at Gateway Madurai for one night to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and had a very pleasant experience. The staff were courteous, attentive and always willing to help. The birthday cake arranged for our daughter was a lovely gesture that made the occasion special. The reception team was extremely helpful, dinner was good, and breakfast was excellent.There are just a few small areas where the experience could be enhanced further. The sit-out and badminton court surroundings could benefit from a little more upkeep, and while the towels were clean, fresher ones would be a nice touch. At the restaurant, we noticed that some returning guests naturally received more personalised attention. It is always nice to see loyal guests being recognised, and extending that same warmth to first-time visitors would make the hospitality feel even more special.Overall, we felt well looked after and genuinely appreciated the warmth and readiness to serve shown by the team. We enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Gateway Madurai.
Wonderful stay. Extremely tranquil with many birds around, especially peacocks. The staff and service were excellent.
