It's a nice old property which is great for an antique theme. Evin was very sweet to help us check in and the security on the second day morning shift was rude when my wife joined me the next day. As a frequent traveller there, all process were completed but was rudely made to visit reception, although we tried explained the procedure to that certain security. Which causes embarrassment to Valued guests. The same was conveyed to evin and front DEST manager aswell. Hope the certain staff was debriefed accordingly. Other than that really loved the surrounding hill and special mentions to those beautiful peacocks everywhere.
We are quite disappointed with our decision to book Gateway by Taj this time. The property looks beautiful, but the maintenance does not match the expected standards. The room appears clean on the surface, however it does not feel properly deep cleaned.Moreover, the restroom in the main lobby was very dirty, which was quite surprising for a property of this reputation.We are traveling with our 3-year-old daughter and there are very limited simple food options available for kids. In comparison, during our recent stay at Great Madurai by GRT, the staff was extremely thoughtful and even provided complimentary food and special attention for our child, which made the stay very comfortable.Looking back, we feel disappointed that we chose this property instead of booking GRT again. We hope the hotel improves its maintenance and becomes more family-friendly in the future.
