Mermaid Resort - Kelambakkam

I reserved this resort for four nights mainly because of the Spa, but due to their very poor facilities and experience, I left after two nights, losing the cost of one night. They say they have a Spa, but it is neither managed nor controlled by them. They prioritize outside guests over in-house customers. Despite booking twice over two days and receiving confirmation, they still accepted outside guests. Their professionalism, ethics, and courtesy are lacking. I booked their best room, the Hoot room, but faced many minor problems like no toilet paper, a fridge that didn't work, a broken towel holder, water splashing from the toilet and wash basin, inadequate toiletries, ineffective bath towels, no fan in the room (fans only on upper floors without lifts), and the restaurant lacked proper cooling, making it uncomfortable to dine. I have special food needs and usually speak directly with the chef, but here the restaurant manager often said no chef was available and food was ready; only after repeated requests did I get to talk to the chef. When booking a resort with a spa, I expect relaxation for mind and body, which I did not find here.

A great resort for a peaceful getaway with friends or family. The place is well-kept and tidy. The staff are courteous and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and come with many amenities. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The swimming pool is spacious, perfect for large groups to have fun. There are plenty of open areas and lovely green spaces. The location is convenient from the city, so services like Swiggy and Zomato are available if needed. Overall, I would fully recommend this resort and look forward to returning in the future.

The hotel is spread across a wide area, which results in only partial and moderate upkeep. The duck pond, birds, and swimming pools are positives, but the kids' play area was under maintenance, which was inconvenient for us. The stay was made challenging by a loud event with speakers at full volume, making it very hard to manage with toddlers. Additionally, most areas lack elevators. This is a one-time stay for us, and I wouldn't suggest it for parents with newborns or infants.
