What is Air Deccan?
Air Deccan started as a vision of the passionate pilot G.R.Gopinath in 2003. Wanting to enable every Indian to fly at least once, they began as a low cost carrier and the first one at that. This set a trend for many others to follow. Air Deccan started with regular scheduled flights from Bangalore to Mangalore and Hubli.
Recently, Air Deccan has been bought out by the United Breweries Group under Vijay Mallya and will run along with the Kingfisher brand. Even though they have been brandished with the new red and white colors of KingFisher, they still maintain their focus on being a low cost carrier now christened Simplifly Deccan.
Where all do they fly to?
Air Deccan has a main base at the Bangalore International Airport and a second base at the Chennai International Airport. Air Deccan covers around 57 destinations in India, which is one of the largest number of destinations in India. As of 2008, they had 41 aircrafts.
Air Deccan covers a lot of ground domestically with their robust and expansive network. With 258 daily flights to various destinations and important business sectors and stops like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune being covered, Air Deccan ensures thorough connectivity to a large number of destinations.
