Open-jeep safaris in the wild and the electrifying adventure of locating animals in their element is the essence of Kanha (Kanha Kisli). It is an ideal destination for people who wish to experience nature and wildlife at their glorious best!
Nestled between two beautiful rivers, Banjar and Helon, Kanha (Kanha Kisli) is famous for its rich fauna and beautiful landscape. You will be mesmerized by the dense sal and bamboo forests, winding torrents and undulating grasslands. The serene and calm ambiance plays perfect host to The place has Kanha (Kanha Kisli) National Park which is the nucleus of tiger preservation in the country. Some other attractions include Kanha (Kanha Kisli) Museum, Mandla Fort and Phen Wildlife Sanctuary among others.

There are two main entry points into Kanha — Kisli and Mukki, both on the western side of the park. When travelling from Jabalpur to Kanha, you arrive at the Kisli Gate via Chiraidongri. The Mukki Gate via Baihar is closer to Nagpur. Both the entrances have canteens and orientation centres with interactive exhibits and sales counters where brochures and souvenirs are sold. If you enter through the Kisli Gate from Khatia (15 mins), you will find the most amount of biodiversity. It also offers you the best chance of spotting birds and animals. Most park safaris enter the park from Kisli and the majority of the camps are also located on this side at Khatia. The distance between the two entrances is about 35 km, which you can easily cover within the park if you want to see how the other side is.

Close to the visitor centre, these are stumps of two giant sal trees, known as Raja and Rani, that had survived until 2000. Still part of the park, the tree stumps are worshipped daily in the forests of which they were once a part. Don't miss that!

"Kanha: House of Tigers"
reviewed on Jul 01 2014
First time I saw tiger in kanha after visiting so many national parks and the best part of my trip was I found a big hard of bison. Amazing feeling for me. Only one problem with this park is they don't have any residence in core area, otherwise its amazing. Just watch some picture which I have taken.
