Courtyard by Marriott Chennai

We stayed one night for an early flight. At the breakfast buffet in the morning, water was spilled on the floor and no one was there to prevent people from walking through it. My mom was with a 4-month-old baby, and both of them slipped and fell. The staff seemed distracted, chatting among themselves, and didn’t pay attention to what was happening around them. We reported the incident, but no one apologized or took action. It was a very unfortunate day, and the way the situation was handled made it worse. My mom suffered a head injury and whiplash, but thankfully she is okay. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this.

I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be decent, but I honestly don’t think it deserves a five-star rating.The room was okay, but the bathroom walls had visible stains. When I mentioned it to the manager, the response was simply that it’s an old property. While I understand that it’s an older building, that shouldn’t be an excuse for poor maintenance in a hotel claiming to be five stars.Another issue was the room layout. The TV was not positioned opposite the bed, making it uncomfortable to watch. When I asked if another room with a better layout was available, I was told that all the rooms are designed the same way. The toilet seat was also very low, which can be inconvenient, especially for elderly guests.The staff were generally polite, but the service lacked the professionalism expected from a five-star hotel. During the complimentary breakfast, I ordered an item that never arrived. When I followed up with the staff, instead of checking the order or arranging for it to be served, the response was simply, “Do you wish to cancel?” That response was disappointing and gave the impression that guest satisfaction was not a priority.Overall, the hotel is acceptable for a stay, but it does not offer the standards, attention to detail, or service expected of a five-star property. There are many other hotels offering a much better five-star experience at a lower price with far more professional service.

Breakfast service is slow. The rooms are acceptable but do not meet Marriott standards.

The stay was truly wonderful. The room was perfect and surprisingly spacious for a solo traveler. The staff provided very professional service. Lunch included kothu parotha and beans poriyal, some of the tastiest I've had so far. The breakfast buffet was extensive, offering a wide variety of options. The late night chai was delightful, a nice change from the hot Chennai climate. I will definitely return. This is one of the best Marriott experiences I've had.
