about church of our lady of immaculate conception

Dating back to the 1540s, the Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception is one of the beautiful reminders of India's colonial past. It has been graced with the honour of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoys great popularity amongst locals and tourists alike. The church sits atop quite a bunch of stairs, so be prepared to sweat it out to get a closer look. The beauteous monument is decked in a pristine white, sparkling in the day and breathtaking at night. Remember the Shahrukh Khan starrer 'Josh'? The movie was shot here! On the 8th of December, the feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception is celebrated at the Church in great fervor. The church is beautifully lit at night and displays a lively fair at the church square. The feast of the Immaculate Conception is one of the major Christian festivals in Goa.
