The Mirage A Luxury Boutique Hotel

We spent three nights here and, despite some mixed reviews online, decided to try it out and were very pleased. The room was clean, cozy, and well heated, which is important in Shimla. The bed was comfortable, hot water was reliable, and the window offered a beautiful misty mountain view. WiFi was consistent throughout our stay. The staff truly made a difference; the front desk was welcoming and helpful from the start, assisting us with local recommendations we wouldn't have found otherwise. We dined at the hotel twice, enjoying fresh, hot meals that were simple but satisfying. Breakfast was basic but sufficient. Located in the NH22, Bhattakufer area, the hotel is about a 10-15 minute drive from Mall Road, with free parking available—a big advantage in Shimla. It suits families, couples, and solo travelers alike, offering a quiet, safe, and comfortable environment without being expensive. The only minor issue is that check-in begins at noon, so early arrivals should call ahead for possible accommodation. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely book again.

The rooms were excellent, and the food was also very good. However, the service left much to be desired. We checked out early and were given breakfast, but it was insufficient — only 4 sandwich slices. Since we had a long trip ahead, we went to the dining area and took 4 extra slices as a small travel buffer. What happened next was quite shocking and embarrassing. After leaving the hotel and getting into our car, someone from the lobby came out and took the extra sandwiches back from us. For a hotel charging around 5k–6k per night, I did not expect such conduct. This clearly shows poor hospitality and inadequate staff training. Once food is served or taken by a guest, asking for it back is very unprofessional and feels cheap. It was a shameful experience that ruined an otherwise pleasant stay.

My stay at Mirage, Shimla was very disappointing. The main problem was the AC, which did not work at all even though it was set to Cool mode, 17°C, and the fan was at maximum speed. The room got extremely hot, and I had to wake up in the middle of the night because of the discomfort. At 2 AM, after talking to reception and realizing nothing could be fixed, I decided to write this review. There were also problems with hot water—it was available in the wash basin but not in the bathroom. The food was mediocre, and the ongoing construction inside the hotel made the stay even worse. The rooms were clean, but that alone does not compensate for the poor hospitality and overall discomfort. Avoid this place if you want basic comfort and good service.

The room is very tidy and clean, and the location is excellent.
