Solo Traveller • Jul 2026The owner engages in malpractice and is very greedy, doing DOUBLE BOOKINGS and not respecting portal bookings or cancellation policies. He demands a TOKEN PAYMENT BEFORE THE STAY BEGINS, even though Booking.com offers free cancellation until the visit date. He accepts bookings from portals but enforces his own terms and conditions. I, a female with all female companions and two special needs children, one in a wheelchair, stayed for 3 days (the 3rd day was a separate booking based on tentative plans). On the last day, he demanded payment immediately upon arrival, which I said I would confirm after discussing with family since Booking.com allowed free cancellation. Surprisingly, he double booked even though I had a confirmed booking for the 3rd day on Booking.com. He didn’t even check once when I said I’d get back to him by the next day. Shimla has few wheelchair accessible places, and I spent my birthday arguing with the owner and looking for another place. Fortunately, I found a beautiful nearby property away from traffic with a better buffet breakfast included at the same rate. I recommend Hotel WOODVILLE PALACE Shimla, a palace run by empathetic professionals with lovely lawns, good buffet breakfast, privacy, and peace—unlike Springfield, which lacked peace and privacy. Springfield’s garden is small compared to portal pictures, and noise from people chatting in the garden reached the rooms. I had the best rooms overlooking the garden; other rooms are cramped with no views. Service was good, and the team tried hard, but their efforts were wasted due to the greedy, unempathetic owner who double booked, took tokens from others, and asked all of us females with a wheelchair kid to check out despite confirmed bookings.
