If you are looking for a full-fledged nightlife options like night-clubs, discos and pubs then you might be disappointed as the city is just breaking out of the traditional mould and nightlife at Mysore is still quite young with just a handful of clubs and bars.   • Illuminated Dancing Fountain

    This is a spectacular sight to behold which takes place in the Brindavan Gardens. The fountain twirls and dances to the tunes of music in which the water, coloured lights and music are harmonized to create a water ballet controlled by an aquatic organ. Lasers are installed along with the lights to make the show more dramatic. Located on the northern side of the garden, the fountain show is truly mystical and you can feel the charm of the delightful blend of spectacular colours, illumination and vibrant musical fountain.

    Timings: The musical fountain show takes place in the evening between 06.30 pm - 07.30 pm on weekdays and between 06.30 pm - 08.30 pm on weekends. Entry fee is INR 15 for adults and 5 for children. Still cameras INR 50 and video camera INR 100.
  • Maharaja’s Palace at night

    Also known as the ‘Amba Vilas Palace’, the famous Mysore Palace is flanked by gardens on all sides. Once the official residence of the Emperor, this palace stands as the ultimate example of the influences of art and culture from across the world. This majestic palace is illuminated on Sunday nights and holidays with thousands bulbs which shimmer against the inky black night, presenting one of the most enduring images of the city. Even though you cannot enter the Palace but you can go in the gardens and enjoy this beautiful show. The illuminated Palace is a truly magnificent and an amazing sight, and worth planning your trip around.

    To enjoy the beautiful view do remember to arrive a little early to settle at a vantage position. The best part about it is that the palace is lit in one stroke, rather than in parts. So, arrive before the palace is about to be illuminated to feel the real charm.

    Timings: On Sundays National Holidays and State Festivals from 7 pm to 8 pm. During the
     Dasara Festival Mysore Palace is illuminated between 7 pm to 9 pm. There is no charge to see the illuminated palace.

  • Clubs and Bars

    Even though the nightlife at Mysore is young, it does have a few clubs and bars, the most popular being Planet X, Just Blues, Alankar Bar & Restaurants, Chirag Bar, Kwality Bar & Restaurant and Indra Café where you can sip on your favourite drink and enjoy.

  • Planet X is an Egyptian style hookah bar with laser lights and a well-stocked bar. Located at the foot of the Chamundi hills and regarded as one of the most happening night clubs of the city. Wednesday is the Ladies’ night, that is, their entry is free. Come and tap your foot to the beats of the DJ or just have your drink.
