about madras pavilion

You've got to be prepared to spend at least a couple of hours to really enjoy the food at Madras Pavilion. A luxurious lunch or a laid back dinner is best, especially when you want to have some meaningful conversations, enjoy a couple of drinks before starting off on the huge, varied meal with food from different parts of the world. I thought it was pure indulgence laid out at every single counter. If you are lucky, there could be a food festival to enjoy. Décor: Entering Madras Pavilion, I am always awed by its unstinting grandeur. Carved, flawless marble has this effect on my senses. Huge tables, comfortable seating, soothing creams, beige and brown dominate with the food providing more than enough color. The lotus theme clearly dominates.A newbie could be intimidated by the number of counters, but I suggest you request a conducted tour so you know exactly what your taste buds want to savor. Thematic seating could be yours for the asking. Love seats, The High Table, and of course, the Private Zone. Food: Each day at Madras Pavilion is different. New food, new tastes, and a whole lot of variety. Get set for the starters that come straight to the table. If Paani Puri is part of the menu, please do not ignore. It comes with a twist. The paani is different. You will notice its underlying smokey flavour along with the customary tang. I absolutely enjoyed every single starter and waited for all of them to come around. Veg, non veg and everything else in between. I must say, the sea food was amazing, but what had me reaching out for more was the Murgh Lal Mirch Tikka. Nicely finished with a tinge of heat from red chilli. From the tandoor, I absolutely loved the Tandoori Aloo. They were spiked with mustard and were not afraid to let its pungency dominate.Three soup options Just to let my body think I did have healthy eating on my mind, I chose to mix my own using fresh, colourful vegetables loaded with antioxidants. That done, I was ready for mains. Six varieties of breads were brought to the table, including Khasta Paratha made with ghee and saunf (fennel) - a first for me - tasted great with the Kathal Ki Subzi. But, I loved the paratha and could eat its rich flakiness all by itself. As I spooned the slurpy Bajra Kichadi I was quite taken up with the asafoetida and pure ghee fragrance, assuaging my guilt by telling my brain to remember that ghee helps food to flow thorough the intestines. Desserts: any amount of chocolate varieties, pastries and Indian sweets make those counters groan in delight, but what I absolutely loved were the hot waffles that were generously covered with hot chocolate sauce. Yummmmy. Must Try:If I were you, I'd skip the soup, check out the different cheese, and get straight to the starters. Paani Puri, Tandoori Aloo, Murgh Lal Mirch Tikka. Pluses And Minuses: Single portion salad helpings make life easier and let you dip into many choices. On the other hand all that variety could leave you wondering what you missed out on. What could be a bit of a problem is the fact that you would need help with lifting all those heavy lids that cover the food.
