The importance of Tellicherry (Thalassery) in modern culture can be imagined from the amusing pseudonym- the city of Cricket, Cakes and Circuses. Apart from the 3Cs, the number of heritage sites in the lap of Keralite greenery will leave you breathless.
In a country where cricket goes hand in hand with history, Thalessary Stadium will take the cricket enthusiast in you to the highest level of excitement possible. Apart from this, the city also has Sree Jagannath Temple as well as Sree Andaloor Kavu, believed to be an early Buddhist shrine. Travelled back in the past as you walk through the Thalassery Fort or get pampered by the hospitality of Dharmadam village during festivals and indulge in nutritiuos rice flakes and plantains. Villoppikkal, Meyyalu Koodal and Theyyam, which are some of the rituals here, should not be left out to witness the rich Keralite cultural life.

The 500-year-old Odathil Palli Mosque is built on a Hindu temple plan, with no domes or minarets. Mambally Bakery served the British in 1880 and still bakes delicious biscuits. On the tightly packed sands of Muzhappilangad Beach, you can drive as far as Kannur. Visit the CVN Kalari, founded in 1921, at dawn to watch the students practise. Mahe, once a trading post of the French, is part of the Union Territory of Puducherry, all 9 sq km of it! French and local architectural styles blend to give it a distinctive look.
