Confused about how to reach Almora? Don’t have the idea of the nearest bus stops, railway station or airport? Just sit back and relax as your problem has been taken care of. The various modes to reach the beautiful hill station are listed below:

  • Road

Plug in your earphones, and complementing the music will be the paragoned beauty of the hilly terrain of Almora. There are regular state-operated and private buses from Delhi and nearby areas to the town, charging around INR 200 to INR 500, depending on the bus you take. There are also luxury buses which can be an option to choose from. The buses generally take 8 to 10 hours to reach the town from the capital city.

If you are planning to give some strain to your own vehicle and your driving skills then you will have to take NH 24 that connects Delhi to Rampur via Hapur. At Rampur, you should turn and head north on NH 87 leading all the way up to Almora.

  • Rail

The town is served by presence of the Kathgodam station that is located 35 km away from the centre of the town. Taxis from here generally charges INR 600 to reach Almora. However, you can also share a cab at just INR 125 per person with two three people in one go. I would still suggest that you make an arrangement with the hotel that you are staying in for arranging for a pick up on prior request. They generally take around INR 700 to INR 1000 per person for the facility. The railway station handles around 46 express trains per week which showcases how the town is connected to different cities in the country.

Some of the major rail routes are:

Bagh Express which departs from Howrah every day.
Sampark Kranti Express which departs from Delhi Junction daily.
Ranikhet Express that departs from Delhi every day and then there is
Dehradun Kathgodam Express which departs from Dehradun on Wednesday and Sunday.

  • Air

If you want to spend less of the time traveling and more in enjoying the panoramic beauty of Almora, you can fly to PantNagar Airport which is approximately a 4 hours’ drive away from the centre of the town . It is said to be one of the least crowded airports in the country which serves only six scheduled flights in a week.

Reaching the town from the airport is also not that big a task. Hire a cab or a taxi for around INR 1200 to INR 1500 to reach the town. Haggle over the prices if it is a privately run taxi/cab.

Whatever mode of transportation you choose, once in Almora you will experience the heaven that you often dream of.
