  • Lucknow State Museum

    Take an enlightening tour of the past and the present at this lovely museum. Housing sculptures, bronze statues, paintings, woodworks, coins, decorative arts and etchings from the pre historic era, the museum is absolutely splendid.

    If you are at the Lucknow State Museum, be sure to see special artifacts preserved here. A wine jar bearing the name of Aurangzeb Alamgir of the 17th century, a gorgeous painting of a scene from the Kalpasutra depicting an elephant rider of the 16th century and a copy of the Harivansha in Persian with nine illustrations are some of the things you cannot miss.
    Another eye catcher is the
    Egyptian mummy and wooden sarcophagus dating back to 1000 B.C and a stone sculpture of Balarama and a panchmukhi shivalinga of 2nd century BC with a statue of Saraswati forming an integral part of the belongings preserved here.

  • 1857 Memorial Museum, Residency

    Preserving the remnants of the great uprising of 1857 and the struggle for independence that followed, this historically rich museum offers you a different insight. Take a look around and be transported to the independence era.
    Offering a visual account of the freedom struggle, the museum consists of
    lithographs, documents, old photographs, armoury, cannons, medals and shields. The 1857 Memorial museum shows the entire struggle aided with maps, portraits, paintings and original photographs. With a new gallery added to the basement of the museum,it houses the artifacts recovered during recent excavations. With terracotta roof tiles, fragments of wine bottles and other delights, the museums certainly offers you an a wonderful tour of the past.
